True Love Way's - Improvised Version on classical guitar.

I found myself in a position of having only a classical guitar "Which I had for years and never really bothered using", see I'm more of an 80's hard rock guitar player. So I really never messed with it. I found myself in a situation where the only guitar I had was the classical, broke, and an electric guitar that I no longer could use because, I mean this thing wouldn't tune right no matter what, it needed a GUITAR REPLACEMENT.

So I was left with once guitar and one option, my Classical, which I never bothered with. I bought it in the late 80's thinking I might someday become a classical guitar player. LOL!!! HIGH HOPES But no, I don't smoke dope, I just had thoughts at the time.

I was used to using a pick on guitar all the time. So I was stuck with nothing but this classical guitar, so I started to learn how to finger pick a little bit. This is the result of an improvised song I just hit record on. I thought my rendition of : "Buddy Holly's - True Love Ways" turned out entertaining and that is why I am sharing it here.

I have since purchased a new electric guitar and am hooked on playing Finger style guitar. Before this all I used was a guitar pick, now I am hooked and have learned so much since this, so it was a blessing in various ways I guess. A cool learning process.

Anyway, just thought someone might like hearing this improve stuff. I was just having some fun at the time.

Thanks for listening my friends!!! As for that old Classical guitar, I need to get new tuning keys for it, they slip and I've been playing my new electric guitar as of late "By finger picking it". Although I haven't given up on using a guitar pick, it's just so much fun the finger pick the guitar and play the various sounds without the need for a bass player or anyone else.

This is a Buddy Holly rendition and I take ZERO CREDIT for the song at all, I just played it how I heard it.

Here's the link, I hope this works.

    Hello Bobby ,
I'm glad you posted your acoustic nylon string playing ..I enjoyed what you played .
I found your opening post to be an interesting read also .
With out getting too wordy over here , I can say that a lot of my most satisfying and happiest moments in music have involved just sitting down and playing acoustic guitar (nylon or steel string ) in the moment and just going where the music takes me ...

Thank's Bill. I did this a year or so ago, I got a new electric guitar a couple months ago, nothing fancy, an Epiphone Les Paul Special II. I'm hoping and dreaming about this Fender Strat for 700 bucks, but that might have to wait until down the road. Thinking about a telecaster knock off for Finger Picking electric stuff. Quick question : "Do you think a telecaster style guitar would be best suited for finger picking on an electric guitar where you play mostly melody type songs and blues/adding the possible slide guitar option in the future?"....

I realized one thing, I miss my old Martin Electric guitar that bit the dust, the floyd rose was a knock off and the type I haven't seen anywhere, and the frets had gotten to the point where the strings made indents on them so it was beyond getting intonation right with it, or I should say I had to replace the whole guitar. LOL......

Thanks again Bill!!! If you ever get the itch to do a collaboration adding some of your vocals and lead guitar let me know that would be AWEsome!!! I have several songs I've been piddling around with. Although now I am using Sonar Artist instead of Music Creator, and I'm hoping to upgrade to Sonar Producer very soon in the near future.

Thanks again my friend!!! You Sir are a MASTER Guitarist!!!

Thanks Daryl, I appreciate the kind comments, I'm hoping to play some more things like this. I'm a big John Denver fan and like finger style folk and classical and Delta blues type of music, I have a lot to learn though.
    Thanks again. :-)

Thanks Kenny, I've heard some of the things you play and I am fan of yours I must say. I feel the same way Kenny, sometimes it's just nice to sit down and play without trying to do anything but just enjoy time. Sometimes it's hard to think when you try too hard to play things. LOL, lately, I find myself trying to record a track and try and try and try and can't get it right, then I go and play something else and come back to it and then BOOM I get just what I am looking for, LOL only problem is I didn't hit RECORD so then I try again and it just ain't right.

    Thanks again. :-)

quite often, in fingerstyle playing one can get in the habit of not articulating the various voices.  I particularly notice this in jazz where in the counterpoint one voice is subdued.  He or she did do a great job of bringing out the various lines. :D:D.

IMHO, the guitar is strictly personal preference. Stats, Teles, Les Pauls, or SGs all have their sound. Fingerstyle, slide, etc, depends on your set up. Classic guitars have a wider neck more suited for the right hand picking fingers. Slide tone is clearer with string gauge and height. When using one guitar its's all about compromise. What do you want.

I've had very bad medical problems over the past year and a half and I haven't been playing and I'm no longer able to talk or sing. That's why I created NOW. It was my VENT

Ditto to the above.... that was very enjoyable!   Sounds to me like you should be playing/incorporating that classical guitar more often.   Your playing was great, and the tone/FX were just right IMO.

During the second half of the tune certain parts reminded me a little Steve Howe's acoustic style.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question Bill, Sorry to hear about your health problems, I hope you get well soon my friend. Your opinion means a lot to me, because you took the time and went out of my way to listen to some of my early stuff and even collaborated with me on a tune when nobody else would in the past. I hope you get better soon my friend. Take care. Hope you get well soon!

LOL, Music is like a wife, you've gotta treat her right, or she'll keep you up all night and take away all your toy's INCLUDING THE HOUSE if you aren't careful. Hahahaha... LOL.....  Kidding of course....

Thank you Mesh, I've really just started trying to learn how to finger pick the guitar, I had a classical guitar for years and learned like 1 tune and quite playing music for a long time then kinda got back to playing guitar. But just as of late started fingerpicking the guitar, kinda was forced to do so. But I'm glad I did.

I have no idea what I am doing, just playing chords and rolling with it. I learned Dust in the Win by Kansas "Well, I still need to learn the middle part" but that finger picking pattern sent me on my way. I was without an Electric guitar that worked with proper tuning for a while since starting back with music and finally got one, LOL, since getting it in December of last year I find myself fingerpicking it and rarely use a pick. Although I'm fixing to switch gears and get back to using a pick, it feels strange playing guitar with a pick for me, maybe it's like riding a bike, but last time I rode one of those I wrecked hahahaha.

Thanks again, I appreciate your kind comments and everyone else and understand that I am not a professional, I just follow my ideas and try and make my way and hope what I share that I enjoy playing that others enjoy hearing it also.

    Hi,
Nice tone with this nylon stringed guitar.
    Well played,well recorded and well"produced" .
Maybe something is a little bit loose here or there but it is a real pleasure to listen to. And the tempo modulation is the cherry on the cake.
For the fingerpicking question ,I do agree that choosing an instrument is actually a subjective point ,though personnaly I would prefer a tele because on a strat with all thoose mikes,I don't get easily a good place for my right hand.
    Thanks for the tune.
    All the best.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, I am leaning toward a Telecaster, the main thing I am so confused about is the pickup configuration. I have ZERO Idea as to what would be best for finger picking on an electric guitar. Although I get the impression a Telecaster or knock off designed type of guitar would work.

Thanks again, I'm still trying to find my way on playing and post like your are very encouraging, thank you!!!!

Made this version up after my EX left me heart broken. Either way, thank you to everyone who listened, I know it's not perfect. But I thought it was note worthy for it's content.

A great learning process, and good vibes moving forward.

    Thanks Again EVERYONE for listening!!!!!!

This has a nice feel to it, it ebb's and flows drifting as the music takes it, nice job Bobby.
