True Piano vs X1 Producer
I recently upgraded from X1 Studio to X1 Producer. Within X1 Producer there is synth called TRUE PIANO. I tried this synth on a track of a project. And now that synth seems to have taken over Producer. Whenever I open a new project that piano sound is ALWAYS there. As if it has become " a default ". Anytime I want an instrument on a Midi track, the True Piano sound is always there although the instrument that I had selected from Dimension Pro for example is also there. I have two sounds per track................the selected one and True Piano. Studio X1 was functioning without any problems and X1 Producer seems to be OK with the exception of the above situation . Can anyone HELP ME PLEASE............? Thank you in advance for any help.

Is True Piano on the SynthRack on every project? If so, you may have saved it to the default project or default project template. There is no issue with True Piano. It works just like any other plug-in.

Thank you guys for the info. When I open a new project, the Midi track is automatically on the True Piano sound, and any other track that I add has the dual sounds as I explained earlier. Being new at this, how do I get to the default project and default project templates menu to undo this mess that I have created? Thank's again. Gerry

You need to select the Midi channel. Your probably using channel 1 or omni.

Gerry This doesn't answer the question "is True Pianos in the synth rack when starting a new project" Open your Browser (press 'B') and navigate to the synth rack. All of the synths saved in your Normal template will be displayed there BTW, this should be in the X1 Forum

Yes, True Piano is in the synth rack with all the other synths: ie dimension pro, session drummer, beatscape. regards Gerry

Just remove the softsynth from the default project (SONAR1.cwp) and then save it. Then when you start up Sonar, you'll have the default project without the True Piano softsynth added. Never save to the default project name unless you want that to become the new default.

You don't want to load up every synth if your not using them, this will use rescources. It takes 2 seconds to insert a synth when you want one.

Thank's Davey. But this newbie still does not know how to access the default project. I tried accessing (Sonar1.cwp) and am unable to do it. Because of having no issues with X1 Studio I seem to be more of a plug and play guy at this stage. I'm recently retired and love music, so I'm trying my hand at Sonar and because of this issue I'm considering going back to x1 Studio. Thank's for your time and trouble.

In Edit-Preferences-File-Advanced, check the box by On Startup Load Normal Template. Then restart Sonar and it should open the default project. Check the SynthRack to see of True Piano is in it. If so, remove it and then File-Exit. When it asks you whether you want to save Sonar1, click on OK. You either changed the default project or the Normal template, I'm not sure which.

If you setup Sonar to automatically open a project using the normal template, the default name of that project is SONAR1. When you go to exit Sonar, it will ask you if you want to save the SONAR1 project. If you click OK, then it saves whatever you did in a project called SONAR1. The next time you start Sonar, it will open that project which is what I believe the OP did.

Thank's Davey. I followed your instructions and everything happened as you said except that when the project opens the Midi track still plays the True Piano sound although the True piano is not showing in the synth rack. But thank's to our discussions I have figured a way around the situation: I delete the no 2 track which is the Midi track with the piano sound and add the tracks I require with the sounds I need for my project. I then do a Save as and when I recall the project everything seems to be running normally. Again, thank you for your time and input as I have learned a few more useful things. It seems that this is a never ending learning process.

Then its not playing the True Piano softsynth. Maybe you're getting the MS GS Wavetable piano sound. If True Piano is not in the synth rack, its not True Piano. Somar is a complex, powerful program with a lot of complex add-ons. Every synth and effect is a learning curve that takes time to understand, much less master. Don't feel bad about taking the time to learn.
