True Story… Suddenly you can't record anything in SONAR X2?

True Story… Suddenly you can't record anything in SONAR X2?

Suddenly you can't record anything in SONAR X2? No MIDI, NO AUDIO? What has happen with SONAR? You can play on any MIDI track; software track, playback the whole project but you can’t record anything? What is wrong? You have no clue? After a while you close and start checking other project but of course it is only that project you working on that doesn’t work, every else seem just fine?

After long struggle you will notice that “AUTO Punch” has been activated and you can swear that you haven’t activated it. So it must been activate by itself, or a ghost engineer has start working in your studio? No way have you activated it!
And because you never use “Punch In” recording it takes you 10min scanning in the preferences before you come to that conclusion. “Punch module” have you conveniently hidden in the control bar so you never saw it that it was activated…

This has happen me twice now so now you know what's wrong, so you don’t have to.
Hope it help!

Do you have a shortcut toggle set up for it? Might have pressed that accidentally.

He he that happens to me all the time Freddie. Usually I set punch in points and forget to deactivate Auto Punch.

    This is a good reminder!

And yes, make sure you check your key bindings for it. That usually help a lot to remedy any confusion that will arise when this happens

I have come to the conclusion that is was the hardware controller that accidentally activated the "Punch in" in use of Pro Channel.

Also something is seriously wrong with "punch in" feature in SONAR X2. I get sometimes instant BLUE- Crash and death BSOD several times now try to deactivate the punch module or active ON OFF with mouse or hardware control?

Hmmmmm... as an avid user of the Punch In Module, I have never experienced any problems like you describe. Certainly no BSOD. I don't have any CS with a button that toggles it On or Off but my bound Key or mouse have never had that happen. What CS is it? Are you using it with ACT? Mackie protocol? Could be something there.

ACT! I use example Pro Channel sometimes with the A-800 PRO. Never usually get BSOD SONAR X2 is very stable over here.
It can be something rare... I don't know... I don't want to use Punch anyway.

I'll try to ACT up a controller for Punch IN when I get to my DAW tonight and see if it happens with me. But if you're not using it then it won't matter. Could be a bug though so it would be good to find out

My DAW working stable now (No punch). I'm not sure if that cause it or not.. You never know exactly what can have caused it?
Perhaps I ran into extreme situation abnormal bug, I don't know?
