Trying to make some Break Beats. Reading conflicting info about the bpm's.
Hello.
I don't know where to ask this, but if anyone can recommend a forum, please do so.
I recently got back into producing music. Right now I want to learn about BreakBeats. The styles I do are Hip-hop, funk and electronica if anyone is interested. Here's my situation:
I'v been reading up on a bunch of information, history, sub-styles, off-shoots, regional styles, etc about the BreakBeat genre. I have been reading that the bpm's is 130 - 159. Drum n Bass starts at 160 - 190 or 155 - 180. With DnB I usually go for 160-180.
What I also read about BreakBeat is it can be from 110-159. So what is the BreakBeat bpm range?
Have some old beats, going through and need to re-organize them. Currently working on one right now, and need to be able to label and organize the files properly to minimize problems later. I can't more forward until this is fixed. I am thinking that I am finally there to post up some material once I am done this run. But time will tell.
When listening to some beats I have at 115 bpm, 120 bpm and 125 bpm, they seem a bit too slow for Breaks. These three beats could definately be used for breaks within a song (Not the style, but when you put/mix/toss in a breakdown of a style or another style). They are semi-complete songs though, and arn't only ment to be sampled/cut into another song.
Thanks.
