Tube saturation module
I'm having an issue with the soft tube saturation module.....When installed into the pro channel, the module pops up but the grafics do not generate. There's no knob or shiney face plate. Any ideas?

There are 2 - the Saturation module & the Saturation knob - I bet you're getting them mixed up!

Is this a recent development? I've ha no problems with ProChannel until the last couple of days. At first it showed when I inserted a new audio track the whole of the PC was blank. I could insert all the modules, but none would show up as default. Since then it's got more weird. Yesterday several modules showed up as blank grey when I inserted them, no graphic. At one point the CL was giving no output, right meter (output) was dead, but input meter registering. Also had a couple of crashes when deleting CL. I've never had any problems with ProChannel before this. I've sent in problem report etc. to CW, but it's a bit soon to have had a response. Someone on here said the blank ProChannel was a bug, but no one else on here has been able to add to that yet. Does it happen whenever you insert the Sat Knob? I vaguely remember having to delete the Sat Knob before installing X1d. Did you? If you get any luck, I'd be grateful if you would P.M. me. Would be very interested. Hope you get it sorted. Jonathan.

Windows and Adobe did some whack updates on my laptop last week and borked out a bunch of crap. I'm afraid of what it's gonna do to my DAW system. Maybe that's what happened.

Last week I upgraded to Producer and then to Expanded in the proper download order recomended by the bakers. Everything "prochannel" works and loads fine except for the softube module gui.

Well... it sounds like you are aware of the problem they had with Softube during upgrades but still got hit with it. IDK... double check. Those upgrade instructions confused the heck out of me but apparently weren't necessary in my case so I don't know what to say. It was something about deleting the old Softube folder, upgrading to C then D... or... bah. Confusing stuff. I'd give them a call or try again. Very weird stuff and you'd figure they'd make it easier. Good luck. Sounds very frustrating.

I'll keep having a look around for ideas. I'm more a musician than a techie, so hopefully one of the experts on here might chime in. there are some very knowledgable people on here. I think ringing Tech Support is your best option. I'm in England, so it's a bit more hassle/ cost for me to do so. Good luck, Jonathan.

if all else fails, just cut out a picture of the softube saturation knob and simply use scotch tape to stick it on your screen, you'll never notice it again. just kidding, check your VST bitmap folder just to make sure the graphics are still in there. sorry, besides that great joke, this is all ive got.

The Baker told me to reinstall Expanded over my current install. He says there is no uninstall option....Does this sound right?

Did you delete the old one when you upgraded to X1d? Below is from the instructions SONAR X1 Producer Expanded only: 7. Navigate to the location where your Softube Saturation Knob is installed. In most cases this is C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\Softube or C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\Softube 8. Delete all of the contents of the "Softube" folder (including both the "Saturation Knob.dll" as well as the "Backup" folder). The X1d installer will create a new Saturation Knob.dll file for you.

Down load the instruction in PDF format for installing the d patch and follow all the instructions to the letter. Its important! You may need to roll back to a c patch state. This is not hard just a little effort.

keneds I hope theres a roll back button There is a backup of your previous version of Sonar' if that will help. I think it's in program files/ cakewalk/sonarx1producer. I'm not sure, but I think you need to rename your current version (as another backup), and then copy and rename the backup to the correct location. I'm sure if you search the forum or cake site you'll find more detailed info. I was made aware of this by a Cake employee on this forum when I wanted to roll back a previous version. Then read the installation instructions very carefully. Especially the bit about deleting the old softube knob that I mentioned near the beginning of this thread. If you run into any problems then PM me, and I'll try to help. Good luck, Jonathan.
