Tuned percussion

Hi Folks,

I am reworking a piece I originally wrote for strings into one entirely played by tuned percussion (tubular bells, glockenspiel, gongs, etc.)  Obviously I have a lot of re-arranging to do, but one thing I don't want to lose is the low end of the scale that was originally played by double bass.  I've experimented with timpani for at least some of those parts, but it's just not the sound I'm going for.  Does anyone have any suggestions for a chromatically tuned instrument that has something close to the lower range of a  bass?  I'm open to any instrument from any part of the world, but I definitely want an actual sampled instrument, not a synthesized sound.   I would prefer something that uses Kontakt, but at this point I'm not too fussy.

Thanks for the help.

Try some African/ Indian perc. libraries, 5 oct marimba.

for non-percussion instruments you may also try doubling or combining brass or wind instruments for a nice effect-Tuba, bass bassoon / bari sax, bass t'bone, harp

    Hi
Have you tried the Morpheus library from Soniccouture. It's a Kontakt product. I just got this a couple of days ago, not used it much yet obviously but it has some superb sounds.
