Tuplet entry in Sonar
Is there an easier way to enter tuplets in Sonar? I remember Master Tracks Pro on my Atari ST was able do many kinds of them easily. This morning, I figured out what a tuplet of 5:4 with sixteenth notes equals: Each note duration should be set to 192. I created a 20 note run of those in 4/4, so it's 4 tuplets of 5 notes a piece. To get them, I entered 5 quarter notes, selected all of those notes, used the "Length" feature (under the "Process" menu) and set it to 20% (both boxes are checked)so then it's fit into 1/5 the space, or one quarter note. Then I experimented a bit, and used the "Length" feature again, after selecting all 20 notes, and set it to 75% (both boxes are checked). So now it's still 5:4 tuplets, but with an overall tuplet value on those notes of 4:3, 4 quarter beats in the time of 3. In the Staff view, the notes get a bit goofy looking, as it can't display the tuplets the right way, but it works. Seems like there could be a CAL script to do all this for me, but not sure how go about it. -Rob

Sorry all my sentences ran together, can't figure out how to make it separate them on here, (hitting return isn't working after saving it) weird as it used to work. Edit: I fixed it up a little better, easier to read now.

It's Firefox. You can't make paragraphs here with newer than FF 5 (or something) without writing <br>. About the actual problem: I'm pessimistic, but maybe someone wiser chimes in with a solution. SONARs notation is so very basic. I'm sure many would say that what you've already done shouldn't be possible :o)
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Ok thanks, I am still working on it, just wish the way it actually shows the notation worked better. THanks also for the tip about Firefox.

If you do a lot of staff notation entry, Finale PrintMusic has a tuplet tool that makes it easier to do then having to calculate the ticks.
