Turning effect on/off makes a click sound

There I said it. I tried to optimize X1 as far as i could. Only thing I haven't touched is the config file.

Still i get click sounds. Sometimes when stopping playback via the transport, always when turning effects on/off.

I increased asio latency to 512 samples, increased midi buffer, I am running out of ideas.

8.5.3 was all smooth to me.

Hm, could it help to update asio drivers? i downloaded mine about 2 years ago (maybe the audio interface updates included asio driver update, dunno).

Thanks for any help,

Cyph

Try setting your Fade In and Fade Out time to 10 or 20 milliseconds. This should get rid of any clicks or pops when starting or stopping playback.

I always update my drivers when there's a new one. I trust RME to put out great drivers and they always do.

This sounds contrary, but I don't get why it makes any difference that you get a little click when stopping or turning effects on/off. - ?  I realize, now that you've mentioned it, that I get that sometimes, and in previous Sonars - but I've never batted an eye over it.  It's only barely even registered with my consciousness.   It's clicks in a mix-down I have my radar on for, and getting those is extremely rare.  --

It's in the "Preferences" menu under "Playback/Recording".

    Found buffers in playback queue.

this is greyed out and set to fast. i can not change it.

Now i do get clicks when auditioning files from the browser. aaargh.

Have set fade in/out levels to 20 already.

ps: all of this did not happen in 8.5.3, that's why i guess it's X1 related and not related to my system.

Have you insured that Sonar is not setup to share the driver with other programs? Just a thought.

btw the first problem is gone now that i have tweaked settings an drebooted my pc.

what is left is previewing sounds from the browser that is causing clicks when starting and stopping. the fade in fade out option does not seem to work there.
