Tutorial: recording audio

I'm a newbie, working through the tutorials. I'm up to recording audio. I followed the directions and can get an audio input reading. I'm using a Korg keyboard going through a USB port on the computer. I've gone in and adjusted the volume of the "line in" of the sound card. I've turned up everything and I get no reading on input levels. Any ideas?

A Korg Keyboard going thru a USB cable is a midi signal and not audio, so to recod audio with a midi keyboard one needs to attach an audio cable to the line in on the sound card.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

Thanks. I'm sure my question shows my ignorance, but hey, thats what learning is all about right? Glad this resource is available. So, it sounds like I need a different cable to go into the sound card input on the CPU of the computer, correct? Does it run from one or two ouptuts on the back of the keyboard (RCA plugs)?

Well, I don't know what ins/outs you have on your keyboard, but RCA plugs are the little plugs like you use to hook up a stereo system. Most musical instruments use 1/4" phone plugs, like you see on the telephone switchboards in old movies, hence the name. The kind I think you need is called most commonly, a guitar cord. You may need to get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter at Radio Shack, or a cord with the correct plugs at each end. Greg
