Twist and shout first take

Maybe I've heard/read about this before, and then forgotten, (and it's not "news" anyway) but anyways...
In a Beatles documentary I just watched the recording engineer told that when the Beatles were recording their first album (1 day studio time!) "Twist and shout" was recorded in a single take at end of a day long session. At that time Johns voice was really tired, and the engineer thought that one take was all he could bear.
That adds extra glow to that brilliant performance.
Surely there are many one take classics in the world, but this does give a picture of how iron hard routine the guys had developed in Hamburg. We must remember that at that time they were not very experienced with studio work yet.

The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

The Animals' House of the Rising Sun was recorded in 10 minutes, after the band had traveled all night by train for a morning session.

I am involved in a couple of cover bands (we don't get much work) ... one of them, Mind The Gap (I mention the name because there is coincidently a song in the Song Forum by that name) covers House of the Rising Sun.  The song gives me fits because it is phrased as an 11 bar blues, not a twelve bar blues.  It is one of those songs you would think is trivial but if you (or at least me) are not focused and listening you (I) can mess it up.
