Two Tones-Wall Of Sound plugin-WOW!
A few weeks back I made the plunge and tried the Wall of Sound plugin with the 2 free cabs that came with it. You try the plugin out for 30 days with a temporary license. You get access to their site to try all the virtual cabinets on the site. If you like the plugin, all you have to do is buy 2 or more cabinets and they give you a full license. I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical about this deal. I tried the plug with the 2 free cabs and was blown away! I quickly purchased 6 additional cabs and received my full registration. BTW, cabs are only from 5 or 6 dollars up to 10 or 12! The price is very friendly and they didn't scrimp on quality! Today I finally had a chance to push this thing thru the meat grinder. I had several different style guitar tracks to lay. I decided to give the amp sims a rest and see what I could do with this new plug. I ran a guitar cable off of the Line Recording jack on the back of my Fender/Rivera Concert straight in to my Studio-Captures. I set the input on the Studios for a little compression and pulled up the projects in X3. In the project, I set up a track and inserted the Wall Of Sound plug in to the FX bin. After it came up, I chose a Two Rock cab with 2X12s and a condenser mic. I then placed the mic in the virtual room a little back off of the cab. I must say at this point that there are a lot of features in this plug. They just about covered anything you can think of. I looked thru my pedal collection and decided on the EH Soul Food overdrive. I ran my Fender Strat with EMG gold letter SA pickups and the midrange boost knob into the Soul Food. Then set the Concert for a good sound in the room, even though I didn't mic the cab. Once that was done, I tweaked WOS for the cab sound and off we went. The tone was absolutely astonishing! The guitar had the familiar response that I have lacked, other than with my HD500. It was such a satisfying experience. Almost like shaking hands with an old friend after being away for a long time. I had a Pete Anderson type Tele track to do. Tweaked the Soul Food, chose a Twin cab with JBLs in it, tweaked the mic and BANG! Very close! I had a Contemporary Gospel track. Tweaked everything based on a vintage Marshall cab and BANG! Done. All the tracks I cut today was such a pleasure. I had missed my 2 Concert rig for a long time. At home in my project studio, it just is such a pain to try to get those amps recorded. I've always used PODs or amp plugs and then if the budget was there I would re-record in a larger studio where we could set up some mics. This plug is an answer to my prayers! I can't say that it would be for you but you MUST try this thing! Check it out at Two Tones! I know this is a long post but I wanted to share with you what I think is a no-brainer if you're looking for a way to get your fave tube amp sound in to the computer with out all the headaches of volume and mics. Please, give it a shot!

The demo video sure sounds good, including the cleans, which is rare. Didn't they once offer a free version? I seem to recall once having a plugin called "Torpedo" that ate my CPU for lunch. How is it on CPU? Also, has anyone tried this product with electric pianos, e.g. Wurlitzer?

Bit, this still has the FREE version, you get 2 cabs....and then buy more right from the plugin. It has a button on the right called "Boutique" where you can go do audition new cabinets. It does sound really good. Cabs are $5 to $10 each. I haven't used it on a Piano, but did slap it on an acoustic guitar and it sounded really sweet. Once loaded the CPU hit is small on the Sonar CPU meter...

First thanks Sidroe for posting this I had obviously missed this a few months back when I started looking at IR Cab software, as it is a very nice setup and the IR's are very nice. I have spent a some time the last couple of days comparing to Recabinet (demo) and some other frees one I had been using already. I've been using a lot more cab IR's the last few months after coming to appreciate what they can bring to your sound. Main points: the IR's they have are really nice!! they are very clean, smooth balanced across the frequencies which I have not found with some others. Also the plugin gives you a lot of control to shape the sound and I very easy to work with. I have been layering cabs and even amp sims to build some sounds but these seem to make a lot of that redundant, so with less work they sound better. Even the preamp section is quite useful to make small tweaks to the sound and even working with my existing IR's found them easier to work with and got some better sounds from them. All in all I am sold and even though I am still demoing it I will at least be picking up the Vox and Fender cabs as they are the best I have used, being my go to amp sounds.

hmmm. I tried this a few weeks ago and preferred the sound from Redwirez MixIR2. Maybe I should look at it again? Honestly I've been very happy with what S-Gear provides. I finally bought it and an Eleven Rack (selling my HD500/DT50 setup) and have been working with them every since. So far...S-Gear is winning!

I bought mine new from Audio Deluxe without Protools for $344. I wanted a Kemper, but I'm too poor Ha! I may sell the 11 later if the Atomic Amplifire is what it should be. I also bought a FCB1010, Eureka Prom and two Alto TS112As (got these refurbed for $199 each with 4 year extended warranty for $29 each.) for stereo frfr. A few years ago I had a HD500 and two QSC K12s...it's gas I tell ya!

If you buy the 11rack/PT bundle it's like paying $355 for PT and getting 11rack for $344. ;-)

I will give this a try. I have been very happy with Redwirez IR (which I purchased) and use with S-Gear. I love the Fender IR's from Redwirez, but am willing to be convinced. [Edit: Ignore what is below:] Are the IR's in Two-Tones proprietary? That is, will the IR cabs only work in the Two-Tone Wall of Sound plugin?

I have not tried the Redwirez IR but I did like the Two-Tones WoS enough to get it and a few cabs. The 1977 Fender Twin w/JBL's sounds very good on guitar, will probably try it with a Rhodes 73 for grins. Likewise the "Fridge" is very good for bass. Worth the price of admission.
Purrrfect Audio DAW here. Wow!...

WOW! I actually contributed something to the forum for a change. LOL I'm glad to hear that the ones who are trying it out agree that it is a very good product. I'm deciding on what cabinets to choose next.

BTW, I'm not retiring from amp sims! They still make the job a lot easier sometimes. But, I love being able to get back to the response and the feel on my guitar neck while playing that is sorely lacking with any of the sims. The POD HD500 is very close as far as the feel but I think any guitar will tell you that you just can't beat the real deal. I think my amps are a lot happier now, too!

Bit! I did slap it on a track with Addictive Keys Rhodes and it sounded really good. I haven't tried it with a real electric piano yet but I plan to.
