Two instances of Battery3?
Hi, Can anyone tell if you should be able to have two instances of Battery 3 running in the same project. I'm trying to use two kits at the same time. I've loaded two Battery 3s and used the relavent maps and kits for each one, but only one will play no matter which map I use.

I don't use battery currently , so can't speak specifically have you "armed" the other track your recording? un armed the first instance?

I've only tried it once (that I can recall), but I wasn't able to get more than one instance of B3 to work in Sonar. I've seen posts where people swear that they've been able to do so, but I've also seen posts saying that it's not possible. Probably not much help, huh?! Anyway, you can get around it by just adding more cells in the first instance and recreating the second kit in the first instance. HTH. edit: typ0

Well, I guess you can't. Sonar just froze and I lost the project! - I'm glad I had only just started on it!.

I just tried on a project I had loaded. No problem here. Two different instances of Battery 3 (Battery 3 1, Battery 3 2) working fine. I'm using Sonar 6.02/XP pro, Quad-core. tf

I often do this. One instance running kit drums and one instance running a percussion setup. No problems! Sven

i can make it work, but i've also had instances of crashes. generally, from what i gather, what caused the crashes when i had 2 instances of Battery 3.04 running was when i changed a Battery pre-set mid-song (something i will never do again!) and i lost everything: corrupt mf

I've made it work, but now that I read the responses I wonder if that's the source of some random crashes. They're the polite kind, where it just goes all "not responding" for a while even though the mouse still works and then I get the "SONAR needs to close, would you like to..." dialog. Hrm....

Hi, My Pc is a 2.5GHz cpu with 1gig of ram. this is what I did - I installed a fresh installation of Win XP (dual boot) and ran all the updates. I installed the latest drivers and utilities for my soundcard - Emu 1820 I then installed Sonar 7 followed by the two patches Next I installed Battery 3, and the latest update. I opened Sonar and created a new blank project. I then added two instances of Bat3 to the synth rack. In NI Battery 3 1, I loaded the African Drums kit In NI Battery 3 2, I loaded the African Shakers and Bells kit I then selected the relavent drum maps in the output channels Saved the project. I open the Drums track in the piano view - there is the correct drum map, and it plays drums I open the Bells and shakers track in the piano view - there is the correct drum map, and it also plays drums, not bells and shakers!

Oh Man - I feel like a right dick! I've sussed it. I needed to change the Out Port from NI Battery 3 1 to NI Battery 3 2 in the DMM.

Well, it's great when everything works. It's amazing though how such a simple oversight can cause such distress!! Good luck with bat3 - it's great fun to play with!

Why not create one kit in Battery 3 with ALL the drum sounds you're going to use for that project and then assign them different audio outs?
