Two questions
1. How do I stop a song. When i have a song and all the tracks end the time line keeps on going forever. Is there a setting or something to click to stop that? 2. When i am working in a song it seems the song will continue to play and the time line will run off the screen and leave me behind, the screen does not move, but the line does.

answers: 1- assuming you're on X1: in the track window, you will see the menus on the high-left side. go to OPTIONS .. STOP AT PROJECT END. That should do it. 2- press on SCROLL LOCK. I noticed that it unlocks by itself since X1c .. but not sure about that ! Hope that helps ! V

1. There's a setting in the Options menu in the TV. Stop at project end. If it's not working check the event view to see if you have an event that you can't see. 2. Press the scroll lock key, it acts like a UI pause button

Sorry FFB, no event list as no midi, i forgot to mention that. Thanks to both, that all makes sense. So far so good two audio projects, zero issues. Ran Melodyne as a plugin yesterday, i went to close it and it acted like it wanted to crash, but it did not. All went very smooth. I just have essentials right now, as I am auditioning it along side Reaper 4.02 to see which i like best. After a few years using Cake MC part time, i wanted to give X1 a far shake. So far i like them both a lot, but Cake has the edge, due to my familiariy with it. One test was to open Melodyne as a plug, and process and re-save the vocal track. In Sonar, i just had to bounce with FX, in Reaper i guess it is render with FX, and i can't find that feature to save my life. Reaper is less cluttered, but X1 can be screenset to look basically the same. I do get frustrated with the docking thing, you drag a plugin, or screen around and it constantly wants to doc itself. Arrrgggg!

Okay you may be on to something there. Envelope nodes hhmm i had automation on one track, do I have to have an ending to the nodes, or is there a command? Cause the line continues on after the end of the track.

All the mentioned ideas are valid things to check. However, there is an on-going bug in Sonar projects, has been around for many versions (maybe the entire Sonar series) and continues into X1, that causes some projects to develop a symptom where they do not stop at the end. Past the last event, past the last envelope, they just keep playing, albeit silently, on and on. No rhyme or reason why some projects get that way--well, duh, if there was a r-or-r, then it would get fixed--they just sometimes do. (Maybe one in five or so of my projects end up that way--endless.) One way to fix that I've found is to copy and paste all tracks to a new project. On the WAH! (what-a-hassle!) scale, that rates about an 85 for me, so I just live with the occasional endless project. Saving as a new project would be too easy, doesn't work anyway--now you have two projects that don't stop. In the hah-hah category, sometimes I'll be working on a project late and getting dozy, so when the song fades out, I write some last notes, snap off the monitor and groggily head home--and so to bed. Next day I come in, monitor on, and the song is still playing (silence), somewhere in the 2000th measure or wherever ten hours is at that tempo. I must, at least, admire Sonar's fortitude. I would like to see that bug fixed someday, just on principle.

Isn't there some sort of combination to do with automation write that'll keep it going forever as well? I seem to remember reading about it on here and experiencing it myself. can't remember what the 'recipe' was though. Perhaps if you have a control somewhere armed for writing?

Arrrgggg! I am running X1 with MD with few issues. I tried to do a save while in playback with MD in a vox track, and that did cause a crash. I reopened X1 and the project.... redid what I lost in the crash, and stopped the timeline to save..... no problems. All told, I've had very few issues with X1... mostly learning curve things and trying to find where familiar things in MC are hiding in X1. Between the manual and the forum.... I am getting along quite well with this upgrade.

Melodyne runs nicely here on X1, both as a plug in and stane alone work great. I did have a crash when trying to be cute with a close. I also tracked the very save wave tracks in Reaper and used the exact same plugins, and got exactly the same results. It did not hint at crashing, even though the folks at Reaper forum say it can be buggy with melodyne as a plug in. I have to say both platforms perform very well, and both are great to work with. Reaper is a bit less cluttered to start, and allows some nifty routings. But Cake is very polished to me. I had to go back into Reaper and take a second run at the reverb settings, top get what i had in Cake. I am hoping that Cake won't crash too much on me, since i am a bit more familiar with it I will most likely use it. If it does, then the Reap will step in. I am going to give X1 and very good run to see if and what is wrong. I Really think it makes a good all around package. I also am getting more comfortable with Melodyne, i am seeing where i can fix a lot of little things in my vocals that need polish.
