Two softsynths morph/blend together

Hello! Is it possible to blend/morph two softsynths together with X1 Studio? If you use MIDI-thru, you can hear both synths. But is it possible to hear only one synth if you play quiet and then, if you play louder, another synth gets louder (while the first becomes weaker)? Thanks for answers windplayer PS: I use several NI-softsynths (Absynth, Massive…).

I assume by play louder you mean hit the keys harder (actually, make them depress faster).  Do the presets already get louder when this happens?  If so, it means that the presets have MIDI note velocity modulating the loudness (or whatever it's called in Absynth and Massive).

Assuming all this is so, the easiest way to do this would be to make a copy of one of the synth presets and have velocity modulate it in the other direction and then use that version of the preset.  I don't know the NI synths well enough to tell you how to do this, but this capability is present in many synths.  Ask on the NI forum and you'll almost certainly get some answers.

depends if your wanting to do it in an a live environment or recording one ?

within 1 instrument it's pretty straight forward to do.. errm you just change the sample it plays back in say the case of dimension pro etc

NI kore would do it really easy live, where you could morph easily.. but not supported now "thanks NI"

the other route, do volume automation on one.. not sure if you can invert it on another track (sure someone here can say) either via midi CC for master volume on each synth OR on the audio tracks for each vst ?

maybe using side chaining or using a gate effect might be of help.. there is a few ways to approach it, thats for sure.

I use a breath controller (sending velocity for exemple). I will try it with the "invert-possibility".

well with a gate / compressor maybe you can do midi learn on that with regard to the volume.

obv. set with a fast attack

there is the other thing, opposite to ducking.. adding air.. IRC thats the right name for it, Scott's book mentions it.. so it's like the opposite of ducking *BUT* I'm guessing thats set volumes etc.

maybe there is some sort of invert function that is possible to use.
