I have a Tyros 2 and I create a song on the Tyros 2 by pressing the front panel buttons to change sounds. Then I save this to a USB stick and load it into Sonar.
The Program Changes appear as SYSEX messages.
You can create your own Tyros sequences directly in Sonar; however, Tyros has two types of sounds: 1-samples and 2-samples with effects processing. In other words, Tyros may have one electric guitar sample that appears as several different guitar sounds on the panel because of different effects (chorus, distortion, etc.). If you want to use those sounds with effects, create the sequence on the Tyros and import it. If you want to create songs directly in Sonar, the Megavoice sounds are your best bet.
Important Note:
When you create the song on your Tyros, close Sonar, reboot the Tyros, and turn Local On. Then when you want to use Sonar, start Sonar, reboot the Tyros and turn Local Off.
I love the Tyros series BUT they are not the most sequencer-friendly keyboards on the market.
