UA-25 EX Problem getting non-distorted signal

I finally was able to start working with Sonar 8.5 Producer after having it for a year. My problem is getting distortion when I plug a guitar directly into the interface in Input 2 with the Hi-Z button in. I feel like I need to go to a JC to learn how to use this. If someone could help that would be great.

Your in the X1 forum there is a Sonar 8.5 and lower forum.
But when you get there you should post your system and interface. You have supplied very little info, the more inf the quicker the solution.

If you are playing with the guitar plugged in directly, you will struggle a bit with keeping out of the red-lamp zone.

This is because a clean guitar has a large dynamic range.

Unfortunately, the UA-25 EX has a low direct monitor level, even with the volume all the way up. There is no way to turn down the signal level from the DAW on the UA-25 EX to compensate.

You will have to turn down the DAW using the program's main faders to below the volume of your guitar, and then turn up the overall level in the cans on the UA-25 EX.

For your next interface, try get one with a balance knob between computer and input.
