UA-4FX MIDI out suddenly isn't recognised

I've been using the ua-4fx for a couple of years and it's been fine up to now. The imac recognises audio in and audio out but MIDI out is not being recognised by any programs. I've tried restarting everything but the same messages are being displayed. I also disconnected the MIDI cables and connected them again. Nobody has been around to mess with them so I really can't understand what is going on. Is it the imac or the ua-4fx that is causing this? Has anyone else had this problem?

    Ok I just uninstalled the driver and re-installed the exact same one. It's now working. How bizarre!
