UAD GUI/Meters Freeze

First off, sorry for being boring and not posting anything specific to X3 (which looks great by the way, getting excited about updating).
I've been having an issue with certain UAD2 plugs (Quad card) for about 6 months, through version 8.5 to X2, the last several UAD software updates, and two totally different computer builds. 
After a few minutes (or more, or less) the plugin meters will freeze and its GUI will not update/refresh.  It still remains functional, but I can't tell what I'm doing as the plugin display is frozen.  Specifically, it seems to happen most with Precision Limiter and Cambridge EQ.
The only cure is re-starting Sonar; closing and re-opening the plug just updates the GUI to the current setting, but is then still frozen - so useless for meters.
I have no idea where the fault lies (in fact I suspect it is on the UAD end) but I've done a lot of searching and found no one else reporting this problem anywhere... so this is just an all-call, has anyone experienced this behavior, or have any suggestions of things to try to fix it?

    I have seen similar behavior, but only with the Precision Limiter. The only resolution was to restart sonar for me.
