UAD + Sonar 4 - Sonitus Gate followed by 1176LN

Hello,

Does anyone get this or know why I do?

When I insert a Sonitus Gate on a track and then follow it with the 1176LN, I hit play and then I get a dirty great UAD error message saying that some of the powered plugins have been disabled and I need to restart the card and the sequencer.

Weird.

But weirder is the fact that I can turn off the Gate, leave the 1176 on, hit play and it works. Then, while playing, I can click the Gate to turn it on and everything works perfectly.

What's the go with that one?

I have only tested with the DXi version of the 1176.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Q.

    Qwerty69,
Not using the DX versions of UAD is great advice. Definitely use the VST wrapper. Also, any UAD plug inserted after another plug that utilises delay compensation can cause errors. The gate I believe needs to be delayed compensated due to its lookahead feature. Hope that helps

I'm having much better success with the DX versions than the VST. VST is constant ERROR 21 and I can usually run fine with DX. I also mix and match sometimes.

    Hmm... weird one...

I fiddled about with the VST versions and they appeared to be quite happy - despite coming after the gate. I did hear some clicking in there which I thought was a result of my crappy reverb bussing attempt - might have been a delay compensation this with the gate... Similar sound to when you are playing the track and then you quickly turn the effect off then on again -- I'll check.

But of course, I was just in that track, got frustrated and didn't save anything. Let me jump into it again and I'll see what I see.

    Cheers!

well, according to Ron (cakewalk) the dx versions are buggy. His advice is that we should not ever use them.

Tom (uaudio) told me they are currently working on a software update for the uad-1. Apparently they are already
testing it. This should fix some, if not all, of the issues.

Best news I've heard all day.

And yes... you MUST use the VST version to handle delay compensated plugins like the Sonitus gate.
