UAD2: Not processing in Sonar X2 64bit

Hi !

I hope someone can help me here....

I have a fresh new windows 7 system, with a fresh new SonarX2a 32bit studio installed on it.
, along with my UAD2, everything works just fine!

Now I realize that I would need the X64 version of Sonar for a project,
I install X2a X64 BESIDE the 32 bit version (not overwriting anyhting)

Now, when I use Sonar X64, the UAD plugins open, but they do NOT process audio, DSP status shows no load.
but it manages to see which plugins have unlocked licences or not,

I tried Jbridging them, no change.

I repeat, on the same system, UAD2 works with SonarX32, does not process audio on Sonar X264.

On the very same system, on a previous installation (of X1), of couse, UAD2 was working on both 32 and 64bit Sonar...
I know UAD has 64bit drivers, but I would like to stick to 32 bit as much as possible, as I try to minimise plugin bridging as much as possible with Sonar, as bitbridge has timing problems with VSTi)

I tried searching the web, but it seems no-one reported this, and since it seems to be Sonar-related, here I am posting this message,

I hope someone can help me out !

Cheers !

If you are trying to load a project file created in 32-bit Sonar, that already has active UAD plugs this may be possible as, I believe, the 32-bit UAD plugs would have different GUIDs (bit-bridge wrapped in 64-bit Sonar vs standard not-bitbridge wrapped in 32-bit Sonar.

I'm not sure if this is the case.  If the above scenario is correct, have you tried to create a new project in 64-bit and add UAD-Plugs?   Or possibly load your project, delete and then re-add the UAD plugs.

    Hope this helps.

V, that is indeed a weird one. I'd definitely not J-Bridge them just yet. I have the same system as you here and have no problems with UAD 32's using Sonar 64. The key for me is to use 6.3 of their software. If I use 6.4, I get all the 64 UAD's to work fine, but my 32's crash like crazy. I don't really need Sonar 64 as my processor is strong enough really. I stay with 32 and have a more stable Sonar experience.

If by chance you have installed the UAD 6.4 software and elected NOT to install the 64 bit plugs, uninstall it and install version 6.3. There are no 64 bit plugs in that install and the 32's that get installed there should work in Sonar 64 without a problem.

Also try this before you do anything else. Open Sonar 64. Go into your Sonar preferences, VST settings, click the "reset all VST plugins" option, then put a check in the box that says "rescan existing plugins" and then press the "scan VST folders" button.

When that's done, remove the check box that says "rescan exisiting plugins" click apply, and ok and then see if your plugs work any better. If that doesn't help, try 6.3 of the UAD software. That works perfectly for me. Good luck!
