UAD's "Sonar Compatibility Mode"

Lately two of my UAD plugins (LA2A and LA3A) have been very glitchy.  They sounded so bad that I eventually stopped using them altogether.  Today I installed a software update (version 6.0), hoping that it might cure the problem.  It didn't, but next I tried unticking "Sonar Compatibility Mode" and the 2 problem plugins immediately started working properly again.

So, are there any UAD card owners with their software set to Sonar Compatibility Mode?  Does it cause any problems?  What is it supposed to do anyway?

I think it's an old outdated option from a few versions ago. It's unchecked on my UAD settings and everything works pretty well for me.

The SONAR Compatibility mode is expressly for UAD-1 card users. It was created to solve a few ills that were caused when using SONAR and UAD plug-ins together. One of the most notorious of these was the infamous "native CPU munching" that would occur at random times. Suddenly your native CPU usage would sky rocket when using UAD-1 plug-ins. This was especially acute if you were running multiple UAD-1 cards. UAD-1 PCI cards were more prone than the PCIe ones. UA & Cakewalk got together and created a fix and hence the "SONAR Compatibility Mode" was born. This happened around the middle of 2007. FYI, the UAD-2 has a very different and more advanced driver architecture and does not need to use it. Cheers, Billy Buck

It's outdated, but so is my setup.  I'm using a UAD-1e card with Sonar 7PE.  It use to work fine with Sonar Compatibility Mode checked.  I believe that the problem started with one of the software updates (v5.7 I think).  Anyway I will be leaving it unchecked from now on.
