Hey dubdisciple it is really nice. I have owned a few Oberheims in my day. I just know how they sound. This VST is right on the money. It is fat, floor shaking and simply wonderful. It takes me back everytime I play it. It has got a wonderful arpegiator too. Put all 12 oscillators into unison, hold down a low note, close the filter right down and then open it up slowly. You will faint when you hear this.
 
The AAS I am sure is cool but it is not modelled on anything. They have designed it from scratch to sound like an analog synth and I am sure it does too. But what is cool about the OPX is that it is modelled on a serious instrument and the Oberheim that had the original SEM filters on board too. You can also pan the oscillators for some really truly great stereo imaging.
 
I only have the OPX but for extra you can step up into the higher version which is even better. I am pretty happy even with the OPX. OPX Pro II looks cool.

I've noticed in the past that prices can vary depending how you get linked to them.
 
If you use the link I posted at the top of the thread and go to the bottom page the prices you will see are:
$149 new license
$29 for Ultra Analog VA-1 users
$49 for Session users
These are listed as "limited time only", I think the email I got said till Nov 3rd.

Looks like the prices for new & upgrade from session have changed.
Also if you have another AAS product they have a different price for you.
Check your email for the offer.
 
While I like the sound of AAS stuff I was never crazy about their interface.
I think the new gui and preset browser are a major improvements. 
 

I only have String Studio VS-1 which I got a very long time back from auidio midi. The "special" price to get Ultra Analog VA-2 is $89 for me.
 
Apparently, the pricing seems to depend on which products you have.

If you really want a fat analog synth sound this is also a great synth and it costs less. It is seriously fat and analog sounding and Oberheim sounding as well. And it is only $59. It sounds killer and every bit as good as the AAS. I am just loving this right now:

Jeff, thanks for posting. Just tried the free demo & it is indeed FAT. Emailed the dev with a few questions & he promptly answered them.
Purchased!

I've had OBX Pro for some time now  -a couple of things:-
1) It sounds great
2) I had an issue which turned out to be rouge midi messages from my rubbish AKAI keyboard - Peter the developer was fantastic at helping me get this sorted although it turned out to be nothing whatsoever to do with his product
3) I simply cannot recommend highly enough

Typical comments you find around the internet e.g. gui, no engine improvements/ removed functionality.

I've just realized I've purchased the Sessions version during the Cakewalk store sale at 19.95 last December, but have not installed it.. I'm going to register that and see if I can get a better upgrade path.

 
That's exactly what I did to get 'Session' initially.
 
So I clicked the $99 - 49 Add to cart option, searched my serial number in my email, copied & pasted it, and it worked for the $49 deal.
 
You may not even need to register it - just try the given serial number first.

I've tried the upgrade option. After validating my un-registered serial, it is still 99/=.
 
I've written to AAS for help. I'll post an update later.

So you do probably have to register it then after all.

Hi there Zo you are not hijacking at all. OPX is certainly stable inside Studio One anyway so I guess it will be fine in Sonar too. CPU is fine not huge. Retro yes but like anything it is up to you as to how you program it and what sort of sound you want out of it. I would get into OPX II Pro if you can. 1500 sounds plus host of extra features.

Was a no brainer for me, but I'm biased because I already use Ultra Analog 1.1 and I like that. In fact I like all of their stuff.
 
Main plus point for me is the GUI is more like the Chromophone GUI and is easier to operate, for me anyway.
 
As for the sounds, nothing to write home about... I just like to have a load of options 

I got the session AAS things with a micro korg keyboard that I only bought for the legacy bundle.. another reason why I am not overly wanting to buy x3 at this time... funny though, session version costs MORE than if you don't have it
