UM-2 or 3G as Hub for Motu Ultralite

Is it possible to use the UM-2 or UM-3G as a hub for multiple midi devices with a Motu Ultralite mkIII as the midi and audio interface?  I have a Yamaha MO 8 keyboard and a Voiceworks chained to the Motu at present.  I'd like to eliminate the chain but continue to use the Motu Firewire connection to the computer and connect the Motu to a midi hub.  Or, am I missing something and would I be better off using the Motu solely as audio interface and the UM-2 or 3 as midi interface connected by USB?
