The subscription shown below will expire 6 days from today. Because you are a valued subscriber with us, we wanted to let you know of this and invite you to renew your service today.

I received it too and assumed it was the real deal from the old Sonar payment system.
Of course, you needn't pay anything as that's for the old Sonar, which was replaced by Cakewalk by BandLab which is now free.
Delete the email.

I believe Digital River was the last company Cakewalk used for its store. Cakewalk stopped selling their products last year when Gibson shut down Cakewalk operations. The email should not have been sent.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like it may be an automated email from Cakewalk of old. Probably worth someone at Bandlab taking a look.  It's not ideal that there is activity from the old company system firing out emails like this.

It's Digital River who made the mistake of sending this out not the "old" cakewalk which doesn't exist anymore.

It probably is worth someone at BandLab looking at it. It should not affect your installed SONAR but it might and BandLab owns the keys to the activation servers so they can make sure your license continues. Even if you switched over to CbB you want them to check because you might have plugins that are potentially affected.

But that's on the remote chance not renewing would result in your license expiring. Digital River is not supposed to require any further renewals, but things slip through. Best to make sure you are covered, regardless.

It would seem, oddly enough, that it is indeed both.

Did you contact them? They had been informed to shut down the service a long time ago so its definitely some left over automated email on their end. Please don't respond to any renewal emails since that is obsolete now.

Didn't contact them, I just ignored the email. I did however receive another email today informing me that my subscription has now been cancelled as I didn't renew it in time. It's clearly coming from cakewalk.com so if anyone at Bandlab would like the email forwarded for further investigation, let me know! Definitely an attempt, be it automated or not, to try and encourage people to make a purchase. The link is directed to findmyorder.com and it's operated by Digital River.

I got one as well....even though I never subscribed to their old annualized support service. I tried to notify Bandlab by e-mail, but their customer e-mail service is "under construction". Then I found this thread which confirmed my suspicions.

I hope no one erroneously paid this. Something about the whole thing makes me suspect that they will have some trouble getting their money back - plus whatever else the credit card information is used for!!

Got it as well, wrote here without knowing this thread exists.
Now, since the old Cakewalk Store is closed, none of us would be able to pay anything. I also think someone should write to Digital River that they are sending "not so amusing" emails automatically.

I would definitely contact them (since someone said they kept CC information on file), verify status of your account, and see if that CC info is still stored there. If so, and they will not remove it, I would get a new card for your CC account (if the info they have hasn't already expired). Having a CC on file with a company you do not do business with can be problematic.

I attempted to notify them through their customer service contact email system and pointed them to this thread inviting them to reply/clarify. I say "attempted" because I have not heard back with any type of confirmation yet. Will post back when/if(?) I hear anything from them.

Well futile exercise. Like an episode of "Electric Dreams" where an automated society keeps going on without any people. I couldn't get them to understand the problem until finally one kind android told me she couldn't help me because she is responsible only for the online store - and she sent me a link to the Cakewalk store to resolve the matter. Left-hand meet right-hand.
Sorry folks. (I know it's not helpful here but I am very glad I bought Sonar outright when I did the lifetime update deal and apart from PayPal I have always been very leery of 3rd party e-commerce services.) Without an intervention from "somebody" who set up the original agreement between themselves and "Cakewalk" (the former subsidiary of Gibson), I am guessing these emails are going to go on in perpetuity. Oh INTERNET.

So it's in her best interest to not report this to her boss; she'd be out of a job.
