Welcome...
Understand that MC6 will only support 2 input channels at a time. Most interfaces in the lower price range are perfect fits for that since they only have 2 channels. M-Audio, Focusrite, Presonus...all are in that category.
I would recommend getting the X1 or X2 version of the software which does support multiple simultaneous live inputs such as for an entire band.
I am not familiar with interfaces that would support that and are chain-able. Some of the guys here run studios for profit so they would be a better source for that info.... not me.
That does not preclude you from using a large capacity mixer and sending the stereo output of the board to the 2 channel interface and into MC6. You simply need to do set up and sound check and have musicians that are playing with that awareness.
My laptop, a Dell, came with a firewire port on it and I bought a firewire interface to use. If yours did not... look at this. I think you may be able to obtain a firewire expansion card like this>>>>

firewire can tend to be a bit choosy about the chips that are running it....I've heard that the TI chipset is the best to use. On both my lappy and my custom studio DAW, I use firewire and have no clue if I am using TI chips.... but my interface works flawlessly on either computer.
