Uh... "Silent Busses Detected"?

So I'm sad to say X2 just crashed hard after trying to open the Inspector on my Master bus. This is the first hard crash I've had with the program so far. Fortunately I'm obsessive about saving and doing "Save As" whenever I reach a critical point... which I just had because I had just done a rough mix and was about to start cropping. Now I've just been using the popup dialog to open my projects because my last point is always there but after closing this error the Save As I had just done was NOT anywhere on the list... and that was actually going to be the original topic of this thread but I checked File > Open and fortunately my last Save As was there so I guess that's a lesson for the forum archives.

To be blunt... if you are using the Sonar open dialog to open your projects and something screws up check File > Open and then in the windows browser thingy click the Sort By Date header and the last Save As might be there.

But I digress. The REAL point of this thread now is I have found my project but upon opening it I get a popup That states...

Silent Buses Detected:

"The following tracks and buses are currently assigned to a silent HARDWARE output (emphasis on hardware by me beepster because that alarms me). The items listed below will be silent in your project until their outputs are reassigned to an appropriate hardware output." Then it lists all of the new cloned tracks I created, named and routed in the session before the crash (I had save multiple times in the 3-4 hours session but had not closed X2).

I have that dialogue up and about to see what's gonna happen when I open but I am curious as to what this means. These specific tracks had the output set to "None" and I inserted Sends to go to the busses I wanted so maybe that is why.

Might be fine but I had already typed this up and maybe it'll give me some insight and help others googling this issue. BRB.

Okay. The busses I created are there but my track Sends seem to be gone. Blergh.

Okay... I swear the sends were gone (but maybe I'm just daft) but I tried to Group insert the first one and the original sends appeared. Now I've got two left sends and gotta figure out how to get rid of one. File > Undo is faded out. Blergh.

Closed without saving. Reopened the project and my original sends are there. Hopefully I am back to where I left off. Cheers.

Everything seems to be where it was when I left off. Whew. The Inspector opened without incident this time so that's good. Still would like to know what that Silent Busses message is though. I'm assuming it's because I have the main output on those tracks set to none. Hopefully it doesn't mean something is borked up. Cheers and sorry for the ramble.

Yes, it is because you have track output set to "None".

If you want to eliminate the warning, set the sends to "Pre" and set the track output to your Master and set the track volume to -INF.

And apply the Quick Fix :)

Thanks, man. I don't mind the message if it isn't hurting anything. Just wasn't sure whether it was because of the crash or not but it makes sense now. Cheers.

BTW what I was attempting to do when the crashed occurred was check out my fancy new PC2A thingamadoodle. Got it on there and although it's not gonna live there permanently (or if it does it won't be applied so aggressively) it really did some very nice stuff to the overall mix. Glad I bought it. :-)

Heh... and yeah, I guess the fix should happen now that X2 just gave me a little beepslap.

Beepster: Not sure if it is the same issue but I used to get that warning also. For me the fixed was:

Preferences : File : Initialization File
Then create an Option called: WarnSilentBuses
    Set the Value to: 0

Yes, that will suppress the warning Beep is getting.
