UnFreeze not deleting actual clips on HD

Question:

Does any know if Sonar 4 is supposed to delete the actual clips from the Hard Drive on the computer? According to the documentation...during an unfreeze, the Audio Clip in the Sonar Track is deleted (which by the way works), however I still have all of these huge audio files left on my Hard Drive from the freeze process. [sm=rolleyes.gif]

Do I have to constantly delete these?

Are they still there after you shutdown SONAR?

Sonar deletes nothing, until you use the Clean Audio Folder tool.

Then it removes audio from the Folder(s) not used by any project on your harddrives.

    the Clean Audio Folder tool
Use this tool with EXTREME caution.... i.e. don't IMHO. (It's a very insensitive tool and deletes way too much.)

I got a tip from SusanG on these boards to A) consolidate all the audio in a project, B) delete all the audio files from the original audio folder, and C) put all the audio from the consolidated folder back into the original audio folder.

    Somewhat cumbersome, but it works.

I never had a single issue with this tool over all the years now?!

...maybe I never realized the joy till the joy was gone...

Sonar install deletes unused files every time I close down the program. Is there a setting somewhere I can change to stop this? I don;t really like this behaviour.

Me neither -- but I haven't used CAF since version 2.2 so, I'm not really up to date on that.

I usually create a bundle file when I'm done working on a track or putting it away for a while, archive it and move on. The bundling gets rid of unneeded files and consolidates everything. Of course, it's not as fast to open.
