Unable to Hear Cakewalk Project Audio in Teamviewer

Greetings all.  I'm trying to run/edit projects in Cakewalk Platinum from a remote computer (Windows 8.1) using the latest version of Teamviewer.  Unfortunately I am able to hear all PC audio (computer sounds, media played through VLC player, etc) EXCEPT the audio being played back during projects in Sonar.  I'm currently using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 interface.  I'm sure there is a very simple solution to this that I am missing, but I can't seem to get a grasp on it.  I was wondering if any of you had experience working on Cakewalk projects remotely using teamviewer or any other (preferably free) remote PC controlling software, and if you might have a solution.  If I can get this quirk figured out, it will definitely help my workflow (ie, being able to edit projects remotely on-the-go).  Many thanks for your help.

If the 18i20 is on the remote PC, do you expect to hear audio over the local PC soundcard or vice versa ?
I doubt this will work with ASIO device in either case.
The sounds you mention which work are likely WDM through the WIndows mixer.
ASIO completely bypasses the mixer and I suspect TeamView does not intercept ASIO.
If the 18i20 has WDM driver, then try that instead of ASIO. You have to be able to hear Sonar thru the Windows mixer on the remote PC in order for TV to access the audio stream.
Not sure what TV will do to your audio if you get this to work.
I would prob try PC soundcard on both remote (Sonar) and local (Edit) PCs. Set Sonar on the remote PC to use the PC soundcard (WDM).
Get that to work first and then substitute 18i20 using WDM for the local (edit) PC's default audio device instead of the local PC soundcard if you want 18i20 to play when you edit remotely.
If the 18i20 is to be on the remote PC (Sonar) then make it the default audio device (the WIndows audio playback device).
TeamView will remote this to the local PC where you will get audio thru the default audio device(speakers, etc).

After I posted a possible solution, I decided to try to get Teamview working on my DAW as described.
It was a simple matter to connect to the DAW from another PC via TV and get the Win-mixer sounds working (just like the OP did).
However when I tried to get Sonar to play thru the win-mixer and soundcard on the DAW PC, I had nothing but problems.
My DAW is an ASUS X99-A with a RealTek 7.1 HD chipset. I tried for quite a while to get the DAW to play thru the RealTek but could not (sample rates/bit depth equal, etc). To Sonar, the Realtek looks like 4 stereo WaveRT outputs.  Sonar supports waveRT since Sonar 6 IIRC so not sure why there is an issue.
I do know I had similar problems on my Toshiba laptop with a Conexant audio chipset using waveRT. I had to resort to ASIO4ALL (retch) to get that working properly.
I also remember that with XP (before waveRT), there were no issues whatsoever with Sonar thru a Realtek AC-97 chipset and I could switch back and forth from WDM to ASIO effortlessly.
I think WaveRT is bypassing the WIn mixer similar to ASIO.
I am not sure that there is a generic recipe for remoting the DAW with TV. It seems like
each setup will need a custom solution dependent on OS and audio chipset
I need to look into this more. I still think that if you can get Sonar to play thru the Win mixer, remoting with TV will work.

    Yea thanks,
I tried that too.  Good to know that there is a solution to remote apps / Sonar
