Unable to export video. The disk may be full or an error - etc.

Hi,

First time I'm trying to use Sonar Platinum for editing the audio from a video.  When I try to save it, I get:
"Unable to export video. The disk may be full or an error may have occurred while processing. If you are using compression, a selected compressor may be incompatible. MF_E_UNKNOWN_ERROR"

1. I'm not using compression
2. The disk is not even close to full

I have to export in H.264 format (MPEG 4), so that's not optional.  Any ideas as to why it's not letting me?  I have the very latest updated version (as of yesterday).

Thanks!

Don't try to save video from sonar. Make your audio in sonar, export a stereo wav or wavs, then bring the new audio into a video editor such as vegas pro, import the video with the old audio track, mute the old audio and import your new audio, set levels…  export to mp4.

Thanks - that what I ended up doing (and will continue to do).  But I believe it's SUPPOSED to work.  Kind of misleading, especially considering it's the top of the line, flagship product.

    Again, thanks for the help.

no! nobody ever said you should be able to save video properly from a DAW. that's what a video editing app does.

MP4 in general was an issue with 64-bit Windows. It even took Vegas a while to make it happen, and that program is all about video editing. The situation is getting better, but in general, you want to do video work with a video program. The reason why SONAR has a video window is so you can import video from a video program and create the audio for the video. Magix Vegas is a fantastic program and gets along really well with SONAR.

Also although you may think you're not using compression, unless your video file is many gigabytes, there is almost certainly some codec doing compression in there.

Google "K Lite Codec Pack". There are a few flavors to choose from and they examine codecs already installed during installation. Many hardware and driver installations have "known bad codecs" bundled with them, so the validation portion alone is worth running that.

+1 to the comments of reassembly in a dedicated video editor.

just to add that the k-lite codec pack is a bit like the asio4all audio driver, and may cause unexpected side-effects

    just a sec

Don't add codec packs unless you have a need for a specific format you don't have. You can usually use a tool like handbrake to transcode.
