Unable to import video

Hello, I have Sonar Home Studio 7 on my laptop running Windows 10. Trying to make a short music video. When ever I try to import a video, whether it's mp4, .mov etc, I get this msg; "Unable to import video-Unrecognized file format or invalidd file. The source filter for this file could not be loaded." I installed VLC in hopes of updating the codecs put no luck. Any ideas?

    Thanks Wookiee, I followed all the tutorial steps but I still get the same error. I'm trying to get my old Home Studio 7 to work on my old Panisonic Toughbook CF-52. It's a good computer with Windows 10 but it's not enough. Just got to get my gamer rebuilt for my X3.
