Unbelievable dulcimer musician

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGQuVVEnqDU&feature=PlayList&p=E5C0A8FA2E09199A&playnext=1&index=55

I have a dulcimer and I'm trying to learn this, but this guy is pretty amazing, worth the watch.

Lovely. That's such an evocative sound. I like the hammered dulcimer too.

now that sure brings back memoreis for me. i was just
absolutly "blown away" at that performance. if that cant
make a person love bluegrass then nothing can.

my first instrument was banjo. i was so small my dady
would put me on his lap with me and the banjo and hold
it up while he taught me to play.

can you find a dulcimer player playing "going up cripple
    creek"?

going up cripple creek going in a whirl
going up cripple creek to see my girl

    thanks for the post

Hey Robby thats really nice playing, and a great sound. I have never seen a dulcimer played before and wonder if thats what I've heard on many country tracks over the years, thinking it was maybe mandolin, banjo or capo guitar. How widely is the dulcimer used in music in the US? I notice that it is strung and played the opposite to a guitar, ie high strings nearest to the player. I guess this would make learning the dulcimer a bit counter intuitive to a guitar player, is that so? Also I'm interested in the fret spacing, what is the most common tuning used for the dulcimer?

    Peace Love and Understanding

as the dire straits song says "oh yer the boy can play".... although it could be used as a cross over.. it reminds me of the grid when they used a banjo in dance tune.

I didn't realised one of them was involved with production house though.. (home of acen , baby d etc) a local label..

but I'm brought back to the early 80's to when the dukes of hazzard was on tv...
