Unbelievably HOT!!!

Today is the hottest day so far this year. It's showing over 110 on the the thermometer out side. I'm in east Texas. Feels like an oven out there!

Canada is not livng up to it's reputation. No snow this week in Southern Ontario, just heat and humidity. I really feel for the folks in the South and West  USA.

Keep your powder dry and hydrate folks, like X1, this too will pass.

Right with ya Bill, ol pal.  Over here in central Arkansas it's been quite literally sheer hell this summer and due to continue I hear.  Did the first week of July without AC after ours blewup.  We've got a totally new system now that just about bancrupted us but it is worth every dang penny we spent.  Stay cool, ol pal.  Stay cool.

Thanks! We just bought a new system too! Man they're expensive. Today is noticeably hotter than any day so far this year. It's supposed to even get hotter than this by Thursday. Stay cool too! I bought much ice cream to make us feel better!

I was laying by the pool today.... headed to the downtown area soon on bikes to get some ice cream....

yeah... I'm on vacation for a few days at the beach.... nanny nanny boo boo.....

low to mid 90's expected this week.... pool out side the door (almost literally) and the ocean... we have the ocean side condo..... is just a short walk past the pool.

Although I doubt I'll be swimming in the ocean..... my daughter had no sooner stepped into the waves when a stinging jelly fish got her..... so she came out in pain... that was earlier this afternoon.....she is doing fine now....

I'm thinking of ya Bill..... really I am....

BTW: the thermometer looks like it's slightly north of 110... closer to 112 actually and ...... was it in the shade? Now that would make it a REAL 112.... not the mamby pamby in the sun kind of hot.

The guys who installed our new HVAC system told me they had been looking forward to my house as my blower/heat exchanger is under the house.  They'd just done three consecutive installs that were in attics.  Yet they could still make complete sentences and weren't twitching violently or vomiting up blood.  Those guys earn their money the old fashioned way.  They do stuff none of the other of us will.  And just out of curiosity there Robert, ol pal, did you just spend 10 minutes in your attic to see if you'd survive?

Hold on.  Are you suggesting that there's a correlation between temperature and seasons?  Really?

My mind has been blown.  I'm going to have to revisit all those other urban legends.  You know, like the Myth of the Round Earth, the Law of Gravity, the Existence of France and other fantastic tales.

I guess my theory that the high temperatures were caused by excessive gerbil hair clogging the ozone layer might not be quite as scientifically sound as I had thought.

Not this hot.  Not this long.  And not with this consistency.  This is different.  And worrisome.

But, by all means there Bat, ol pal, come on down from the Utah "heat" and sit for an afternoon on the parkin lot at the WalMart Super Center (for example)  then, after the paramedics have rushed you to the emergency room, you can jibber to the nurses and doctors again how it's just "always hot in the summer":-)

LOL.  No, I'm a cable tech in Fort Worth. Like your HVAC guys, my job takes me into several attics every day. What most people don't realize is that when it's 105-110 outside and the sun is shining, the air in the attic is closer to 130-140. You burn your hands when you touch the wood in the trusses. The loudest sound you hear is your own sweat dripping onto the deck at your feet.

    It's freakin' hot up there.

Been there, done that being in HVAC and all........I'm glad that for the most part I seldom am in that situation now.

RobertB you forgot to mention the rockwool and fiberglass insulation that somehow ends up sticking to your whole body and those attics that you literally barely fit into, or when trying to become vertical in an attic and in the process of standing up you take the tip of a roofing nail into your head. I know you were all probably wondering what had happened to me;)

Lately I have been up on some flat black rubber roofs. They get plenty hot. Its difficult to look at a schematic and program a cpu on a roof that is at least 120F and your eyes are burning because of the salty sweat pouring into them. A lot of guys in the trade have worked non stop during a heat wave for maybe 10 days straight 12-20 hours a day. I am fortunate that my job is much less a stress because we have shifts, but I have been there........gotta make hay while the makin's good.

The amount of times I've eventually been chased down the road with a kitchen knife by somebody that has previously referred to me as Snoogie Woogie Wips is impressive.

I see it now as a danger sign.

I only answer to the call of 'Oi' these days, I know where I stand with that.

Every summer in Vegas is that way. You can say it's a dry heat but there isn't much difference. Get some electrolytes and drink plenty of water. 104 today, cool for July.

To an extent, I agree Craig. Once it gets over 100, it doesn't really matter. The big difference is the drench factor.
Your skin stays much drier up there.
In Denver, my swamp cooler was very effective. Maintain a cross draft in the house, and the added moisture was a plus.

Down here, you need AC. The evaporative process of the swamp cooler doesn't work, and the AC drys the air.
