    Love it.

The vibe on the intro hooked me.

The vocal tone makes me smile, in a good way.

The vocal phrasing makes me think it's ok to smile about the vocal tone in a good way.

You guys must be a real fun act to catch live!!!

The fun factor seems to be part of your vibe.

    Nice.

    Thanks for sharing.

    best regards,
    mike

Hey thanks a lot , Ya the vocal "sound" is sort of at first edgy and  I was going to re do, But, I doubt if I would nail the phrasing as well again. Forget that "warm" thing, everybody does that. So I use a cheap mike and the Yamaha 01v compressor. No editing. I sing in one pass, I screw up I hit W---R .
    Thanks for listening

Nice twist on the Kinks.  I like the little country sounding bits scattered in.  The fun shows in the singing.

Good job, both in the performance and recording.  As Mike said, made me smile, and just not because this is one of my favorite songs.

Some notes for the tech heads.
Recorded spring 2010 in my old commercial studio space ( nice live room)
Johnny -Guitar/ Curt Garrison - bass / Dave Brummet -drums.
Some sessions Liz Mason - keyboards.
Equipment- Sad little Acer Travelmate ( 2004) Tascam us1641.
All songs recorded live off the floor with focus on drums takes. But Curt nailed all his bass parts too. ( he is an amazing player)

Drums mixed via Yamaha 01v.  6 channels used. 10 mikes total. The overheads and Toms were sub mixed to stereo.
Guitar amp in iso booth. Bass amp DI, Keyboard via MIDI.
Files transferred to home studio where I proceed to work on them for last 2 and half years. Progress slowed by also learning how to use Sonar. Thanks once again my friend here at the forum.

Re do my vocals and guitars. Edit/ add keyboards.
Had to replace all kick drum with MIDI.  Some clean up done using wav lab on bass and drum tracks. My parts, I just do over and over until I like them, Sometimes this is a endless loop.

You picked a good song to cover.  You did yourself proud with this.  The vocal has personality plus, and the mix is full and robust.  I liked the vocal sound you got with your cheap mic.  Keep em coming.

    All the best,

Thanks for the positive feedback. I really, really do appreciate each and every comment.

I'm working on proofing the whole album of 12 songs. I thought this one was good to go so glad it past the acid test of forumdom.

I burned a CD and played the album on this Panasonic Getto. I love that thing. Talk about an average common denominator. It tells the absolute truth about a mix. All in semi low fidelity.
As a result I'm back upstairs re-mixing a few of the songs. Down to the nit picky details.
