Uncle Ruckel Band - White Bird

http://soundcloud.com/joh...cle-ruckelwhite-bird-1

Cover of a song originally produced by "It's a Beautiful day"

I put the album to bed yesterday, all 12 song now pass the listening tests.
Studio - Yamaha NMS 10
Home stereo- Mission 701
Kitchen under counter CD player ( 3" speakers )
The Panasonic Getto Blaster
Wifes Subaru
Ford Explorer Via mp3 player via Belkin FM transmitter ( tape deck)

So I started burning the CD's to give to my friends.

This is one song I am not 100% happy with yet but not sure what it is that bugs me, Not happy with the guitar solo stuff, needs a another lead instrument?? anyhow I'm open to ideas.

Thanks for listening

Ok I'm admitting I have never heard this one but maybe I don't get out much. The mix seems perfect to me here. I guess you could nitpick on it but I didn't see anything that I would have changed mixwise.
     Great tune and mix!

I've heard this song many times, done by many bands.  I like your take on it, and the arrangement is entirely your own.  At first, I missed the backing vocals, but not for long.  Considering that the original recording had a lot of elements in it, you were able to grab the essence of the song and make it work.  You could play with this forever, or just let it ride.

    All the best,

Thanks folks for the positive comments.

Lynn, Yes the original had a female vocalist. We do have our girl Liz ( keyboards)  but she hates recording studios.
I added a little higher harmony part but put it in the background. I guess your right about there's a lot of room to do more but then.. I might add some better guitar parts but for now this will stay on the album. The original was electric violin and a trademark sound I didn't want to even try ( guitar synth??)

    Hey, John,

Nice job on this great sounding ('70s?) cover with excellent performances and a nice clean, well balanced mix!

Strong vocals, excellent instrumentation, and I really like the tasty guitar solo, too.

    Good stuff, thanks for sharing!
