Under my Spell
A new one, sort of. New post here, anyway. Second song in the playlist at soundcloud in my signature. A rather stripped down song that is different than my usual stuff since it was written by the singer. In case anyone is interested, the bass is DI'ed through a Warm Tone beast on clean settings. All comments welcome. @

I really like this AT - very sultry, sexy atmosphere. Great playing - I am listening on crappy computer speakers and the mix sounds good on them but I'll listen again later on something better.

I love that slow, bluesy feel and the way this song is laid-back. The vocal and the instruments blend together in a spell binding song. What more could you ask for?

Glad you guys like it. I was going for that 60s blues/lounge sound. The strings forced the issue. Thanks for the comments.

I remember listening to this song months ago, and I clicked the "Like" button on soundcloud back then. I still love it. Great laid back vibe, sultry singing, and nice subdued and yet slick playing.

Nice slow bluesy sound to this and the vocals are right on the money for this song. The guitar and bass sound great also on this and the bongos in the background fit right in to complete this song. Very nicely done AT. Peace and Blessings, John

Nice song AT, the bass is cool. Would've liked to have heard more depth in the bongos as they give the song that cool flowingness that wouldn't have been there if they weren't (just a thought).

That's beautiful. I might give the bongos a little more room, but that's a nitpick, it all works together perfectly as it is.

This sounds great! The simple string line to one side is so simple, yet perfect for this. Great guitar and vocal work as well. Reminds me of the Joe Bonamassa/Beth Hart collab stuff (that's a good thing ;). Regards, Dan

Thanks for the comments, all. The bongos were a late addition - it started out as guitar/bass/vocal thing. It was either leave the bongos in the back or start re-carving the other things. @

Nice clean tones, with a laid back bluesy feel. My kind of song. It had some slight timing issues along the way, but didn't stop me from listening. I would say good job on this one.

Thanks for the listen, everyone. And yes, it is kinda loosey-goosey and the tempo drifts. I had the guitarist and bassist play and the singer do a scratch vocal. Get that "live" feel. Of course, that just made the bongo player's job hard. Thanks again. @

Thanks all. I'm glad most get it. I'll take authentic over perfect most days. When I heard them play this live I knew that was the vibe. Kenny - yea, it is hard to place a vocal in a fairly sparse piece. I don't usually mix at rock levels, but still loud. Still, better to get the vox loud than not enough. I'm married to the singer ;-) @

Hi AT, Yeah , I figured that you were married to the singer …….thats cool….. I end up doing a lot of my forum listing late at night at the softer conversational volumes … before I post a comment , a lot of times I will go back and give a song a listen when I can turn it up during the day….. it sounded good to me ... nice tune, and a great vox delivery. great guitar part, the violin patch i don't really care for, but honestly, it's perfect for the genre. i like most all the tones and mix, except the bongos need some high end push for clarity. if the high end was there on them, they would trigger that reverb really nice too, right now they are too dark.... it just muddies the mix at low volume, and you don't have anything in there that is bright, so you almost have to look at the bongo parts as your 'high end' of your mix. the vox mix could use a bit of 'air' on it, maybe a bit at 10k
