Unfreezing Guitar Rig 5 issue

Freezing a track with Guitar Rig 5 works fine.  However, whenever I unfreeze the track, all of the components inside GR5 are turned off.  And it's not as simple as turning them all back on.  There is a component, amp, I think, that even when I turn it on, does not pass audio.  I am having to save and reload the preset to get my settings back.  I haven't seriously used Guitar Rig before.  Any idea what I'm missing?

I've done the customary google/forum search without much luck.

Thanks!

I have not used Guitar Rig in some time. If that happened to me, I would bounce the track instead of freezing and archive the Guitar Rig track.

I have no experience with freezing and unfreezing Guitar Rig, but I have had problems with Sonar turning off and/or resetting components inside it when loading a project. I have projects that have forced me to save effects chains as presets and load them each time upon starting. Of course I have no idea how this relates to your problem except to say that there are possible issues between Sonar and Guitar Rig (I found a thread from way back with someone reporting the same problem as mine, so I know it's not just me).

i confirmed this earlier today, but only with gr5 set as a synth instead of a tempo based effect in its vst preferences.  not quite sure what is going on.  even disabled zero controllers on start/stop and that didn't fix it.  as a tempo based effect it worked fine, and unfreezing the track did nothing to the settings.  have you filed a problem report?

Scook, doing as you said worked perfectly.  Thanks.  I've never understood the purpose of the archive vs the freeze.  This seems to be one.  Swamptooth, thanks for the confirmation.  I do have GR5 set as a synth so I can automate via midi.  I wasn't sure if it was a Sonar issue, a GR5 issue, or a "me" issue.  I'll file a problem report.
