Unfreezing moved clip - UPDATE, another clip moved without freeze
I went to unfreeze a track tonight, and when I did, the clip moved forward (toward the beginning) in the song 10-20 measures. I hit undo and it went back to where it was supposed to be. I did it again, same result. I closed Sonar, came back in and did it again, same thing. I rebooted, went back and unfroze, the clip moved again. I turned on snap to grid with a full measure increment and started moving the clip hoping for the best. I got it to where it belonged, but that was very strange. I know I may not get many responses since I would imagine this is pretty rare, but has anyone else experienced this. I am running Sonar 6.2 on Windows XP Home.

If you edit a frozen clip and then unfreeze it, it will go back to whare it was before. Think about it, its frozen (in time) This is the way it works and its normal. If you need to edit a frozen track, you need to unfreeze it. Cj

Yea, CJ is right. If you had moved the clip after it was frozen, un-freezing will move it back.

Thanks guys, but it never was where it moved to upon unfreezing. It was a guitar audio track that made absolutley no sense where it moved to.

Well, is it possible you made some sort of tempo change while it was frozen?

Like corrupted said, you had to have made some kind of change. any kind of change to the project or tracks that are frozen will be un done upon unfreezing. so there was something changed in the project, even if it wasnt track related. Cj

No tempo changes. I'm sure there were some changes made since it was frozen. It didn't move a little though. It moved 10 to 20 measures. If that is going to happen a lot, it makes me leary of using freeze. It never would have purposely been where it moved to because it was so out of place. Anyway, thanks for chimeing in with your ideas.

something was moved, maybee the clip was dragged or something. I havent heard of any bugs with the freeze option, so im pretty confident in saying, go ahead and use the track freeze, and if any changes are made, just unfreeze it and then freeze it back. If it was a bug, there would be more threads about this issue and i think this is the first one like this. Cj

So it was audio, not a synth or something frozen? The reason I ask is, after freezing the track, if it were a softsynth, and you moved a clip from the midi track, when unfreezing, that midi clip that was moved would stay where you moved it to. If it is a guitar track that was simply frozen to process plugs and disable them to save cpu usage, then ya got me! Wierd thing... Solution? Remember where the guitar part was and put it back after unfreeze. Sometimes, with complex creative software, things like this happen. Sometimes, a workaround is good. Nice to bring it to our attention so we will remember if it happens, and ya never know, sometimes somebody knows exactly why it may have happened... Good Luck, Lance

Yep it was a guitar track with Amplitube 2, frozen to free up some resources so I don't keep dropping out. It was fairly easy to move it were it belonged, I just thought it was strange.

Last night I was recording a guitar solo on a different song. After having the first part like I wanted it, I dragged the starting punch point forward into the solo so I could redo the last part. When the punch came, I played and the wave drew in the correct position and it sounded OK in real time. When I hit play to listen back, the new clip moved towards the beginning of the song and started playing over the first clip. The wave graphic moved as well. I did it again, same thing. I shut down Sonar, did it again, same thing. I reselected the punch region, and everything worked OK. Weird.
