It really can be a bit 'hit and miss' to uninstall previous version of Sonar. In theory you can do this, but there is always the chance that a file will be deleted that is required for a particular VST or instrument in the current SPLAT installation. Particularly if you have older projects that were started in those previous installed versions.
You can always do a reinstall of SPLAT, if you later find something is missing that you require, just make sure it wasn't part of a previous Sonar version.
I'm of the opinion that if you can find something else to delete, to give you that space, then leave your older versions there, just to be on the safe side.
