Unique Problem with viable MIDI track only sounding TTS and not Dim Pro...

Hi,

Tech support was very nice and tried very hard to help me, but to no avail so far. So I thought I'd give this a try.

Running Win 7 64 Bit, Sonar 8.5 64 Bit, Dim Pro 1.5.5, fresh install, all updates in, music only computer and very stable system.

I have a bass midi track that successfuyly sounds the TTS bass sounds, but will not trigger any Dim Pro Bass samples. Of course the routing is correct.

Nothing in the Event List points to the problem either.

If I load a new project and insert Dim Pro, I can play back the bass samples fine, but it just won't play the notes from that other MIDI track.

Tried inserting Roland Groove and THAT worked, but again, not Dim Pro.

Finally, this track is from "Hands On" MIDI, a pretty decent commercial sequence vendor. I need to work with dozens of these type of midi files in the coming months and am disappointed not to be able to swap out the TTS bass sounds for the Dimension samples. Even when I tried to insert Kontakt figuring I'll use those bass sounds, no audio.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I'd be glad to send the MIDI bass track alone in a project file if someone would like to try it replicate the problem.

Thanks.

Could the notes be outside the range of the Dim Pro patch? Try transposing it and see if it works.

    Thanks.

Forgot to mention that I tried that.

Inserted a new instance of Dim Pro, can play/record the bass samples fine.
Then, when I copy a few measures of the midi bass track in question, and then paste  it into the new, working track, it not only doesn't play back but it actually AND kills the previously recorded notes that had sounded fine.

look at the EVENT data of that track and see if there's something abnormal there.

also make sure you don't have the clips muted in that track.  check your layers and make sure you don't have multiple layers with muted clips.

verify the velocity of the notes.

I've seen the same issue you describe. Never did figure it out. Used SFZ instead with a Will Lee soundfont. Dim Pro is weird sometimes.

Deleted the first three entries in the Event List, Control 121, Control 11, RPN 0.

This allowed the bass line to sound the Dim Pro. So now, it sounds TTS, Roland Groove Synth (which it did even with the controller info in there) but NOT Kontakt 3 and the bass sample from their library.

I'll use the Dim Pro sample and be happy.

One note. Tech support just emailed that they replicated the problem, deleted the controller info and it only played ONCE. Then would sound again. Mine worked intermittent at first after deleting the controller info, but seems ok now.

    Weird. Thanks.
