Universal Binary version of Rapture VST (OSX) - when?

Hello,

Since I have switched to an Intel based Mac for music production I would very much be able to use Rapture on that machine.

Any status on when a Universal Binary version of Rapture VST for OSX will be out? November? This year? Q1 2007? Later?

Hi scook,

No, it's not the same. There are three common plugin formats on the Mac:

-AU (used by Logic Pro and other applications)
-VST (used by Cubase and other applications)
-RTAS (Protools LE and other applications)

The thing is that:
-Logic Pro 7.2.3 for Intel Macs only support AU Universal Binary plugins
-Cubase 4 for Intel Macs only support VST Universal Binary plugins

Cakewalk Rapture has only been released as an AU Universal Binary, and thus only works with Logic Pro 7.2.3 on Intel Macs.

I am wondering when the VST Universal Binary version will be released, so I can use Rapture under Cubase 4 on my Intel based mac.

When does Cubase intend to support AU plugins?

Probably never. They also dropped DirectX support on the Windows platform with the 4.0 release, so Cubase is now a VST-only host on both platforms.

Thank God You have mentioned/noticed that there is no VST for Intel Macs - how strange...
By doing so You have saved me a lot of money - I was just about to order Rapture under assumption that UB means both - AU and VST.
Oh well, I guess I'll go and spend my money elsewhere... Upcoming ReFx "Nexus" looks promising and will be available as AU and VST :)

I can't answer about when, sorry, but we certainly have VST versions for Intel Macs of RP and DP in the plans.
