Unlink Step Sequencer clips. What am I doing wrong?
I create a SS clip. I dragged it over 8 bars. I then copied the 8 and pasted it after. I want to unlink them so I can change the pattern of next 8. This is from the reference guide: To unlink copied Step Sequencer clips When you copy step sequencer clips, all copies are linked to each other. This means that any further edits to any of the clips will be automatically reflected in all other linked sibling clips. If you want to edit one instance of a step sequencer clip without affecting any other clips, you must first unlink the clip you want to edit: 1. Right-click the step sequencer clip in the Clips pane to show the Clips pane context menu. 2. Select Unlink Step Sequencer Clips from the context menu (point the mouse over the bottom of the context menu in order to show any “hidden” commands). The clip is now unlinked from the other clips.
I right clicked the step sequencer pattern in the track view but unlink is grayed out. What am I missing? Thanks

Try highlighting the clip and then right click.

I'm sorry. There is soooo much strangeness regarding SS and Addictive Drums right now, I don't know what to say. It has become unusable. After I posted, I walked away from the computer for about an hour. I came back and the screen was locked up. I hit control-alt-del and the graphics driver said it locked up and had to restart. Then Sonar would not play the second sequence at all and the first sequence was not playing the pattern correctly. I have posted that issue before. I decided to re-start Sonar and as it was loading the screen went black and I could see the audio driver unloaded as the interface light kept blinking. I rebooted, restarted Sonar and now the audio driver won't load. I re-installed the driver and now Sonar will load but the step sequence won't play correctly. Now as I am typing this, the audio driver unloaded again. Arrrrgggg. This was stable system a week ago! So sorry. I can't even get back to the issue I just posted about.

I completely uninstalled my audio driver and re-installed. I restarted Sonar X3 and the SS won't play the pattern in the step sequencer! I started deleting all the elements in it and starting over. However it would not play the pattern that I am "progamming" it to play. This is madness! lol At some point, it started playing rolls (like 3 hits in a row) for each drum beat. Even when I open AD back up and click on the drum graphic, it would play three hits per hit. I have no idea what is going on. It is quite possible that the SS and AD are possessed. That would explain things :-) So I deleted the project and started over from scratch. I didn't know what else to do. This time, I did not load my saved pattern. I recreated it from scratch. Now, when I copy a SS pattern, right click on it, the unlink SS pattern menu option is available and it does what it says. At the moment, things seem to be working but that was a frustrating our or two. lol Is anyone else experiencing AD and SS oddities with X3? Thanks

Sounds like something went to sleep on your system and corrupted the project. As far as unlinking dragged out SS clips (or any groove clips) I think you have to create a split THEN right click and the unlink option should appear. It's been a while since I read that entry though and that is based on X2 knowledge. Good luck.

Beepster, I think you are correct if I had one clip and wanted to split it into two. In my case, I copied the clip (so I had two). Thanks, because in my particular case, that would have made more sense to do.

maximumpower I right clicked the step sequencer pattern in the track view but unlink is grayed out. What am I missing? Try to select both or multiple linked SS clips by holding down Ctrl or Shift and then by right clicking select "unlink step sequencer clips" in the context menu.
