Unlocking mp3 Encoder

Hi everyone, I recently upgraded from Sonar X2 Producer to Platinum for my main machine, but a while back I purchased a UA1G bundled with Sonar LE just to run on my Laptop.  After downloading and installing the mp3 encoder to my laptop, under “All Cakewalk products not listed above” (Sonar LE was not on the list), LE still doesn't recognize the encoder and refers me to the Cakewalk Store.  I will contact support about this, but I've learned a lot of you really know your stuff too and someone might have the answer before support can get back to me.  Do I have to purchase the mp3 encoder again for LE, or should the one I have work and I'm just doing something wrong?  Thanks.

Ya, interesting, I have LE on this laptop and I just tried exporting as MP3 and got the "unlock the encoder go to cakewalk store " message. Funny thing is I have Wave Lab, Gold Wave and Nero as well on this machine. All of those can encode to MP3 no problem. I have LAME. I thought once you had the encoder it worked globally. I never export as MP3 so never noticed this before. I always export as Wave ,, fuss about in wave lab and then convert it with either wave lab or Gold wave. So I think your expected to purchase it.

Yeah, Johnny. Thanks for the quick reply. That may be the case, but I'll wait and see what they say. Kinda odd if the one I bought won't work with LE.

An mp3 license is a one time purchase but there are two SKUs for mp3 products. One is an mp3 activation program the other is listed as an mp3 encoder. The activation program is used by all modern versions of Cakewalk Products (including SONAR LE) to unlock the embedded mp3 encoder. The other product is intended for very old products. My guess is you purchased the wrong product. Contact Cakewalk support to add the correct product to your store account.

OK, Scook, that makes sense and I'll do that when I hear back from them. Thanks much.

scook - yup, that did it for me! For all of you that bought the wrong encoder option - like me - find your "Cleverbridge" purchase ID and get a refund - then use scook's link to get the right one.

Some answers elsewhere said don't export as MP3, do a riff, .wav, etc. - then encode with 'whatever'.  If you have a .CWP saved with audio data, better than a .wav, etc - it's editable. An MP3 is the last stop on the train - not meant for re-editing.

Forget all the other non-answers, scook's link solved the dilemma for me.
