Up Grade giving errors
Help, I can't get any from cakewalk my case number is 323196 it has been over a week and still haven't gotten any response phone nor email. I even tried PM. This is my issue. My computer that I record with is not online, so I have been up grading offline. All has worked until this last up grade. When I run the update all looks ok that status bar run up to the end. Right as it seems to be finishing the Update installer gives an error stating that "Acess Denied" and states that it is reverting back to the previous version. But when I look at the about section in sonar it states that it's up to date. So I took my computer and got online used the command center. Command center gives error when it goes on line to upgrade. It was suggested from this form to maybe update windows 7, so I upgraded to windows 10. Still doing the same, at the moment sonar is running ok just not sure what I will run into later giving that the install process gives an error and command center crashes. THanks,

Yes, but to make sure when I get to the studio today I will right click on setup file and run as admin. Thanks

Try rebooting the PC before immediately before running the update.

I put my main computer that normally is not online I put it online and downloaded command center, tried to update through command center and I get this error. "Unfortunately something went wrong and Command Center was unable to recover. Click OK to restart or Cancel to close" Has anyone experienced this error while updating? Thanks,

from what ive been reading online here in the forums, this last update is default installing to C:\ Drive. do you have sonar or files stored anywhere else except the default installation folders ? this might be causing the error, or somewhere your trying to install to needs to be right clicked/allow changes. Its similar to: when you are unable to open a file or folder on a local drive on your computer. This can occur if you don’t have permissions on the file or folder, or if the file has been encrypted if that's the case: To take ownership of a file or a folder, follow these steps:Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, then click Properties.Click the Security tab, click Advanced, then click the Owner tab.Click Edit. ...Click the name of the person that you want to give ownership to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/access-denied

I can echo what Chuck is saying above . . . last time I got the "Access Denied" message I was attempting to install an audio driver from a downloaded ZIP file. After much hair pulling, and cursing . . . I finally found out that when I unzipped the install package the files were somehow encrypted . . . so when trying to run the install, it looked like it was working, until the end . . . hence the "Access Denied" message, due to the file encryption. Not saying this is your issue, but it may be a possibility to try, since you seem to have tried the other suggestions above with no success. In Windows 7, encrypted files used to display as green text. In Windows 10, I see they have the coloured text option turned off by default . . . but you can turn it back on in Windows "Folder Options" . . . by checking "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color" . . . then you can know if this might be the problem, or at least have encrypted files visually identified for future installs.

Thanks Chuck and Ecurb, I looked to see if anything was denied, even if I run the setup offline or command center as admin it still does the same both give errors. I even upgraded to windows 10 still gives error. Now I upgraded my Sonar X3 on my labtop through command center to Sonar Platinum and all worked. Labtop is running windows 10. I don't do any recording with labtop just use to listen to mixes if I'm out of town away from studio. Once I finish this project I may try UN-installing everything and do a new install. I will just clone my drive again, so I can return back to what I have now. I have a spare HD that's the same size as my main drive that's the one I tried Windows 10 on. I'm still running Windows 7 on main computer. If I do get it working I will post what I found, looks like our phone support is gone form cakewalk..... Thanks
