Absolutely beautiful song/arrangement/performances... I love the moving and heart-felt lyrics... and the Vox is outstanding... that said, I am hearing some timing issues with the Bass downbeat, and I don't think the busy drum pattern is working...  I sure hope you'll work that out, because this is a wonderful song...

This is a beautiful recording!  I think the bass drum could support more instruments if you should decide to add something else in that part.  If it's just piano, then maybe Frank has a point.  Still, good song.

    All the best,

    Frank/Lynn,
Thanks for the comments.  Looking back I agree that the bridge it entirely too busy.  I got in a hurry to post and overlooked too many problems.

I cleaned up the Bass track and simplified the drums.  Comments welcome.  I guess the Bridge really needs a guitar.

Much better, and yes, I would say it does need a guitar, playing off the drums there...  I'll play it for you, if you'd like...

Absolutely beautiful!  I've not heard this very often, but I prefer your version anyway.  Are you playing the piano too?  Very nicely done!  Great vocals too.  A nice backing guitar would be nice too, and I wouldn't mind having some simple drum beats throughout, but this is beautiful the way it is.  (the bass and drums might be a tad loud when they do come in.)

Wonderful way to start ending my evening.  :)

Hi Janet.  It's great hearing from you.

I wouldn't put too much stock in my piano playing.  The song tempo is 126 BPM and I couldn't play the part that fast.  I recorded the piano  in chunks at 120 BPM and of course edited my sloppy fingerings

    Thanks for listening.

Beautiful song and beautifully sung.  My 2 cents would be that since there was such a short segment with bass and drums, I think you could have done some strings with the piano and maybe a cello or something and no beats or bass.  Rich, that's what I was hearing but it's only an opinion.  You've always been one of my favorite singers and still are.

Oh. My. Goodness!  You slowed it down SIX WHOLE BPM??!!!  Heresy!

Sheesh....I don't care what you did...it's great playing and some really cool licks.

Found it Richard. Awesome job on vocals and production. Total pro sounding.

For some reason it cuts out quickly not sure if it's the file or my SC player.

    Grant,
Thanks for listening and the kind comments.

I'm not sure why you're having problems listening to the song.  It seems to be playing fine on my end.  However, Soundclick was acting screwy yesterday.

Also, an update is forthcoming.  Frank was gracious enough to send over his guitar tracks.  I've been out most of the day today and hopefully I'll post the update this evening.

Warren, it's always great to hear from you.

I am glad to see that you stopped by to listen to the song.  I completely understand what you are saying about the ending being such a short segment.  I felt it makes such a bigger impact to the culmination of the lyrics at the end.  But that's just another opinion .

BUT, I do like your idea about strings.  I think Cello would be a great addition through the second verse.  Hmmmm. . . . . . maybe another time.

    Thanks again!

    Guys,
I apologize.  I had issues updating the soundclick file yesterday and ended up deleting the song and then recreated it.  In the process I forgot to update the first link.  It should all be working now.  Sorry about the confusion.

Frank's guitar part really solidified the ending of this song.

Very nicely done! Nice and emotive singing. When the bass and drums came in, they do not seem to fit the overall song. This is a meditative song the drum/bass are quite dry. I would put some reverb on them to give them some space. I do relate to the lyrics quite a bit.

Vicente, thanks for listening and for your comments.  The responses to the ending have been received with varied opinions.  Your comment is noted.

The kit is dry and you are probably right, they could us a touch of room verb.  I'll revist this when I get a chance later this evening.

When I went back to listen the song level seem very low.  I don't think theis is correct.  Maybe it's my work computer.  I'll take a second look at this too.

GREAT performance/mix.  What really stands out is your vocal performance.  Its a great delivery when you can hear the emotion/control in the artist voice and you delivered.  KUDOS!
