Updating Kontak

I want to update Kontakt but the last time I did it I ended up with .cwp files that wouldn't open because the reference to Kontakt was incorrect. I had to open every file in Safe Mode and remove all instances of Kontakt and then replace them.
How can I be sure of avoiding that this time?

Thanks - rev

Make sure that after the update, the new Kontakt 5* DLLs are still in the same location as before, that the scanner is finding the same DLLs, and that there isn't confusion between VST2 and VST3 versions.

Before the update, open the plugin manager and find the Kontakt DLLs in the list. Click on each one to determine its physical location, which is displayed in the dialog. You may be surprised to find more than one instance listed. Verify whether you've been using the VST2 or the VST3 versions in your past projects. Knowing these things ahead of time will clue you in as to why you've been experiencing missing-plugin messages after updating.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
