Updating SONAR from Command Center

Hi.

There is issue with updating SONAR from Command Center. If your previous build (21.0.0.252) was installed with custom paths (for example, C:\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum), Command Center just installs build 21.0.1.254 into default location at Program Files. Same for custom VST path, which is selectable with usual setup, but Command Center installs Boost11 also in Program Files.

I don't believe that Command Centre allows. For alternate program locations so you'll have to do it manually.

Is there a change log available with the update? Just curious... :) Thanks.

mudgel, but it's installer bug. SONAR keeps information about installation paths in registry. InnoSetup engine (which is used by Cakewalk installers) allows you check registry settings before updating. Or use command line parameters when installing from Command Center to customise default paths.

I think it may be best for you to get in touch with tech support.

If my music computer is not connected to the internet, and I use my home office computer to download stuff, if I keep Command Center in the Office Computer, will it check to see any updates are available if I manually check it periodically?

I was kind of wondering that too?  Also, what if you did a manual install, could you then use the C3, (on your DAW computer), to do the updates?

No, If you do a manual install C3 doesn't see it at all.
It wants to install everything as new, and in its own chosen locations.
That means the main program, and each separate module will need to be checked, redownloaded and reinstalled if updates aren't clearly noted and specific modules indicated.

Updates are already a nightmare for those of us with optimized and/or SSD systems, unless the program itself recognizes an install is needed, or C3 is fixed.
