Updating from sonar x1 to platinum
If I decide to update to sonar platinum, will I still be able to use sonar x1? Also will it allow me to download x2 and x3 as well?

Why would you want to use the older versions when instead you can be using newer Platinum? However, There is no problem in keeping old versions installed. Cakewalk purposely installs each individual version into its own separate folder so all versions can coexist on the same computer.

you wont have problems loading any Sonar X1 projects but you may want to take note of the plug ins which you used in X1 and if you used V Vocal on those tracks, its not included in platinum. Melodyne is the new Pitch correction software and its quite a bit more in-depth and better than V Vocal in my opinion. You will not have access to Sonar X2 or X3 by upgrading but you wont need them as Jesse mentioned. those versions are rolled in to Platinum and Platinum is far superior than those previous versions.

Thank you for the reply guys, the information was helpful.
The reason why I sometimes like to keep older versions is because of pluggin compatibility, as you mentioned. I do actually have a lot of x1 projects with v vocal so I'm glad the upgrade won't change it. Thanks again for the info guys this sure will help me in the decision of buying or not before tomorrow. Wish I had caught the life time upgrade. :)

You will be able to keep and run X1 along side Platinum. No access to X2 or X3 unless you have upgraded to them in the past. Rocky

Do I understand it correctly that upgrading now from X2 to Platinum etc is full cost? No more discounted upgrade pricing for existing users anymore per below from the Cake site? Thanks in advance for any heads up either way as I really hope I have this wrong....somehow Cheers. Upgrading SONAR to a more advanced editionIf you want to upgrade your copy of SONAR to a more advanced edition, you simply pay the difference in the current price. - If you own SONAR Home Studio, upgrade to SONAR Artist, Professional or Platinum for $49 off the regular price.
- If you own SONAR Artist, upgrade to SONAR Professional or Platinum for $99 off the regular price.
- If you own SONAR Professional, upgrade to SONAR Platinum for $199 off the regular price.
- We will no longer offer discounts for any other editions of SONAR or from other Cakewalk products.

I believe this is correct but if you wait for a deal to come you will be able to reap the benefits of discounted prices. Unfortunately, they just had a special going that ended on Oct 1st. It was an upgrade special that lasted a couple months I believe.

Cakewalk has always been a very cool company. Send them a message and ask them if they can extend the deadline on the offer. Its not like your weeks late, only a few days. I cant say they will but they might. How's that VS700 treating you ?

Not a bad thought...pretty sure I know the answer though Now that Gibson run the ship I often wonder how different Cake now is coz you are right, they used to pretty cool to deal with from memory. The VS gear even under W10 is still really good. The days of 8.5 and the amazing workflow may be long gone but it still all functions really well. Will probably miss it if I change platforms to be honest.
