Upgrade promo & update questions

Howdy.

Used to use Sonar 7, been gone a while.

Today I decided to take advantage of the free upgrade promo, so bought X1 Essential. I received my email and am currently downloading the X1 Studio upgrade.

So on to my questions:
#1: Looking at the documentation, I'm a bit confused as to whether this is an upgrade to install 'on top of' Essentials, or if it is to do a clean install of Studio itself. The instructions kind of sound like it's a clean install, but I want to make sure before I go uninstall crazy.

#2: I haven't updated to D yet, and I just want to be clear on the process for this.

According to the update notes, update C is "cumulative of all previously released SONAR X1 updates including SONAR X1a, X1b and the QuickFixes." - So basically I need to upgrade to Studio using method from question 1... Then install update C (skipping A&B)... Next install update D... And finally start playing with my new baby.

Is my breakdown of this process accurate?

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to asking many more dumb questions in the future!

Cheers.

Studio is a stand alone install, and you do not need to install Essential. Just follow the supplied instructions to take bring you up to the d patch.

All of Cakewalk's SONAR programs are seperate installations. You can have them all installed simultaneously if you choose.

Upgrade versions are full products. It really refers to the pricing discount you get for owning a previous version. But the previous version doesn't have to be installed for your upgraded version to work.

Cakewalk keep track of any previous registrations you have in your user account, which you can access on the Cakewalk website. This is where your Product Serial number and Registration Number are kept for future reference. Download links are also found there if your purchase was a download version.
