Upgraded to EZ Drummer 2 today
I have been waiting to see if Superior Drummer 3 was on its way but couldn't hold off on EZD 2 any longer. I really am impressed with the song writing functions and if I need more fire power sonically, I will bring in SD2 when needed. I already own Nashville and Latin Percussion add-ons so it was a no brainer to stay with TT. I did check out AD2 and there is a good sale going on it right now for upgraders from AD1 for only $40. I just really wanted the midi pattern tools in EZD 2. The upgrade price from EZD 1 was $90 and I was willing to take a chance now compared to on bigger discounts through next week. Now I get to learn it. Rimshot

I upgraded EZD a couple weeks ago. I love the concept of the feature that lets you roughly tap in a beat and it searches and finds similar ones in the midi library. The only problem is that there are not an many files in the midi library. I'm wondering if third party midi libraries (like Groove Monkey's) would be searchable, or if they have to be made by TT..

I have both AD 2 and EZ 2 and as far as song writing goes, EZ 2 is miles ahead. I love it. I also think that the stock DW kit is fantastic sounding....

AFAIK, for the searchable midi files, they have to be TT midi files.
I have quite a few Expansion packs and they all come with their own midi files.
I also have some of TT midi packs and find these to be very useful as well.
I would think that TT would allow third parties to eventually participate, but it remains to be seen.
I have almost all of GroveMonkee files and really like the feel they have. Wish I could use them in EZD2. That would be the.......best!

I've said this before, but I like to build the midi in EZD2 and if needed copy the midi and use it in AD2. I have a good solid EZdrummer map for AD2. If you need it. PM me a e-mail and I'll send it to you. Lately I've been pretty happy with the kits in EZD2. The new DW kit is very nice!

Toontracks EZ Player Pro has what they call "map wraps" for AD, Native Instruments drums, BFD and lots more. I still use it on every project even after EZ Drummer 2 came out. I hope they update it with EZ D2 features. I have built a large midi library with everything I own in it so it's very easy to use Abbey Road 70's midi files with Addictive Drums or any combo. One of the most under rated plugs around IMHO. You can separate kit pieces and drag them to separate track in EZ Player or your DAW. There is a good video on youtube by Brad Bowden. You can take a kick from one groove and use it in another or use the hat in another groove. Fun stuff. EZ Player Pro comes with a midi library of it's own too.

For just playing midi files, GrooveMonkey's site does list "EZDrummer (all versions)" as one of the formats they support. It's a bummer that they're apparently not searchable like TT files.

LOL! I could use having someone remind me what I have at times. One of my fav features in EZ Player is being able to find the location in the browser of any groove you use while building your song just by clicking on it. And adding cymbals or hits anywhere in your song just by clicking. I sure hope a new version with EZ Drummer 2 features is on the way.

So, does EZ Player Pro work well for BFD3? I think I asked that on here several months ago and the only one that responded said it didn't really translate all that well, so I didn't end up buying it. Might be good because BFD3 is my favorite sound wise (or at least with the libraries I have it's my favorite.) I like the arrangement features in EZD2.

I just joined the EZD2 crowd. Got a 15% coupon from my local GC which to my surprise did not exclude TT. So I went to my GC and got my EXD2 upgrade for $76.50 and did need to wait for Black Friday. Great deal! Now I can enjoy the new search engine in EZD2.

Thats a shame. I didn't test that out when I had the demo (only 15 days), and thats the reason I don't upgrade. It seems like what it is doing is presenting other related song blocks from the library. Its not any AI, just a search and report function.
