Upgraders to Expanded - Anyone else seeing remarkably reduced CPU usage?

I am surprised this hasn't been mentioned (or maybe I missed it trying to dodge all of the Reaper/S1 promotion on these forums lately). This brings to mind Billy's experience with expanded running on his system where X1 previously did not run reliably. Others have mentioned a feeling of greater stability. In my own situation I had no issues with X1 a-c and ran it reliably as my only DAW (haven't opened 8.5.3 in months). I have seen a huge drop in CPU cycles though. At first I thought Cake "calibrated" the cpu meter in SONAR and that was all - but if I take something like Galbanum Piscis running in Rapture.,,, in the past I could only use many of the larger spectrum or multiwave pads by limiting polyphony. Now I can easily play big fat chords and even layer multiple soft synths including Rapture/Galbanum at the same time without going anywhere close to red - and without a glitch or a crackle. The load per core also seems to be more balanced than it had been previously. I hope this doesn't inflame those who haven't and don't want to pay for expanded, etc etc. Not my intention - just curious if others have seen the same thing.

Thanks

Because we no longer have a true numeric readout of the CPU meter in Sonar, it's hard for me to say whether there's an improvement or not.    And, since I really wasn't using/running X1 prior to the Expanded install I also have nothing to compare with/to.

But, I can say that things definitely are running smoothly here still.  That means I'm able to use X1 as equally intensely and with equal stability that 8.5.3 has/had for me.   It does not mean that some of the bugs don't drive me crazy or that some of the design decisions don't drive me crazy.

    They do.

With regard to CPU -- I can say I've remixed a few tracks that were huge projects (ie, big synths like Omnisphere, Trilian, etc) - with lots of FX -- all without issue in X1.  Even in 8.5.3 some of these projects were "on the edge", so to speak.

So perhaps you're right in that there is some improvement in the CPU performance, I just have no way to measure it yet.

hey Billy -  Sorry for the delay in replying.  Appreciate the feedback. I agree that it is difficult to quantify as there is no numeric value for CPU usage. But subjectively at least, it sure looks much improved on my end.

I haven't updated yet and until I build my next DAW, I'd have to work with what I've got. I'm wondering if this Expand update will improve my old dual core sys? (or is it just for quad's & higher?) I'm thinking there's only one way to find out, but if there's any documentation on this.......I'd appreciate it!!
